If the workmanship evident under the hood of the Ebay 328 is any indication, you can put me down in the "Detractor" column.

And 1000 HP in a TR? What transaxle are they going to get to make it go reliably and what brakes are they going to stop it with? A TR has neither that are up to the job.

I have never seen Koenig improve a Ferrari.

You are truely the expert in the field, but I please ask you not to distroy the fantasy that Road&Track created for me about the Koenig cars during my formative years. ;)

Folks, your opinions are all right on the money. Whether it's a "work of art" or "Fiero junk" is all valuable insight.

I would like to say this:

.....1. On the shape of this car, it maintained both trademarks vividly alive for viewers. Not many people does not recognize that this is a Ferrari and is modified in such a way that we see Koenig name surfacing here and there. On this, I think it is better than Fiero junk because most Fiero conversion was done in a way trying to hide the name "Fiero".

.....2. On the function of this car, it more than doubled the HP of the car. While I do not know of the reliability of this Koenig conversion, I have neither heard of such increased HP blown the engine into pieces due to poor engineering. I believe this modified engine may have killed some engine reliability as a trade off for performance. I do not know how much trade off this is but maybe it is a personal decision.

Hey, a one time use rocket to the moon cost how much? Is it worth it? Some say yes while some say no.

But, be certain that there is no 'bad' opinion. I personally enjoy reading every post here. Let's keep it going. Thanks a gazillion!

the transaxle have been made out of titanium, the brakes i don´t know but i can figure out. i think they came from Brembo. Willy Koenig started his career as a racing driver, who wasn´t satisfied with the quality of Ferrari. So he improved the cars and his success brought other Ferraristi to him. In the end the cars have been more race cars then street cars, which brings the point of reliability into a new light. Big service after 5000 km etc.. he got more out of the cars which is an improvement, but you have to pay a price for it.

According to the many articles I have about Koenig, it didn't just stop at some body work and a turbo bolted on. On the 1000 BHP Testarossa almost everything else was upgraded to handle the extra power and to get things lighter. Like Tatzelwurm said Koenig has a racing background and he still brings his original 365 GT4 BB Koenig racer to the track. It's an awesome machine, not just for posing.

Agreed. But I think the comparisons are wrong. If it's a Ferrari conversion, you have Ferrari running gear and suspension. if it's a Fiero (they even tried to steal the name), it's for looks. The conversion in post #42 looks like it is functional and somehow, form almost inevitably follows function. If someone didn't race that at one time, I would be surprised.
But comparing Koenig to Pininfarina is like, IMHO, comparing Madonna to Queen Elizabeth. Aerosmith to Frank Sinatra. Tiger Woods to Muhammad Ali (maybe that's off the path, a little).
One of my favorites, to change the thread a little, is De Tomaso. Marrying Italian design to American muscle. Morphed the Mustangs with Italian sophistication and design. The "able to be driven" love child of Clint Eastwood and Lola Bridgetta.
It's like nepotism. Sometimes it works but it's not a given. Either you got it or you don't; and Pininfarina has it in spades.
The earlier post about the Glickenhaus P4/5 is still valid. I just haven't followed design of racing in years.
The Queen would not look good in Madonna's titanium TT's (no slur against Audi).

The car is one thing. It speaks for itself, and if you like it - then so what? To each his own.

But what really stuck out to me was the copy.

    I thought I was reading a Sham-Wow!!! ad. LOL!!!
