    This was another spectacular show. The intent of Cavallino is to showcase specific rare, usually classic Ferraris. This year, on the main lawn appeared two late model specialty Ferraris, the new P540 "Golden Ferrari" on the 599 chassis, and one of the six 575 Zagatos on the 575 Maranello chassis.


    The P540 was showcased with a special unveiling at 11 AM by FoNA. The owner was then interviewed.

    How I wish another P car was present, uses two of those three numbers, wishful thinking.

    This was loaded with a 250LM, a 4 cyl Monza, and a Daytona Competition and brought up from South America, a real Ferrari F1 Team hauler:

    Missed you and Gaby today.

    This is a Ferrari special vehicles customer car, an authentic Ferrari, which was emphasized by one of the FoNA people. The concept for this car came from the classic golden Ferrari used in a Fellini movie 40 years ago.

    The work was in fact done by Pininfarina. I heard rumor, only rumor, that this was approximately $1 million over the cost of the 599. 599 running gear is stock.

    Carlos Monteverde's, I believe. It's been at Goodwood Revival...a very well-traveled lorry!

    Another great show. I did see Penske walking around. Was he there for any special reason (award, etc)?

    Didn't ask why Penske was there, spoke to him briefly, he was very relaxed and just having a good time. Unlike when I see him quite uptight at races, he agreed to have his photo taken with anyone that asked.

    In a perfect world, JB, JT, and JG would all be great friends. I am pissed this is not a perfect world.

    But then if this were reality and a perfect world, I would really really hate to leave Florida, best state in the Union. So this makes leaving a little more palatable, but silly rules do hurt the rest of us.

    The style and color of the P540 were chosen to mimic the Ferrari shown in an old movie - The Golden Ferrari.

    Does he live around here? Twice in the last week, a black Corvette Z06 with license plate Penske 3 pulled up next to me when I was a traffic light in Wellington making a turn unto Southern. The first time I didnt get a look at the driver, the second time I did and it was a man in his 60's with grey hair. Wonder if it was him?
