Since we are writing here on interior and radio, I hope you can help me on this: I have all interior out from the car to fix number of stuff... and door sills/speaker "box" look like this. Speakers must have been great at 1980's but have kind of lost appeal among HI-FI people... in other words to all Murcielago owners... just don't do it today... Does any of you have picture, how speakers was originally installed? I 'am going to redone leather on sills. Drivers side also had small crack above speaker, I fix that yeasterday. (still wet in picture) Can I assume speaker hole is original? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This belonged to Tim Dutton-Wooley, owner of the company making Dutton Kit cars. http://www.flickr.com/photos/homer----simpson/4298594128/in/photostream/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The factory would do anything asked, but int this particular care the car was delivered with the normal satin black finish on the badges.
I think the factory installed the speakers under the panel, with perforated holes arranged in a circular pattern for the sound to be dispersed Image Unavailable, Please Login
+1 But it might be those square mirrors that don't help matters with your appreciation for the color on a Countach. Similar hue looks a bit better on this LP400. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What's the ground clearance on the QV like? I know some cary because of old springs. the old 400S has very little ground clearance, what about the later cars?
I think the mirrors and the custom painted wheels are most of the problem. With black mirrors and the original silver on the wheels I bet the whole look would improve dramatically. Needs the Ansa exhaust too... The quality of the photography doesn't help either...
I've never had ground clearance problems in my 400s. The car bodies are low but not from ground to bottom of spoiler.
Wow i have a special fondness for this car, after the cannonball countach its probably my sentimental favourite! it featured in the first ever magazine article about a countach i got my grubby little hands on at the age of about 11, The magazine cost £2 which was a fortune back then, when you consider autocar cost about 35p back then. I must have read and re read that article a million times, that magazine was probably thumbed more than most guys playboy magazines! Have not seen that car since then either.
I think you have! Dutton sold the car (1121320) to a local LCUK member who restored it in the 80s whilst driving it many miles! He re-registered the car "GJK 854 X", removed the wing and painted it dark blue. The Ansa sport exhaust was duly added and the wheels were painted pearl white. It is pictured below in 1990 at a Mike Pullen-organized Supercar's Test Day at Goodwood. He used the car this way for many years, and at the end of he 1990s he re-installed the wing and painted it yellow. You snapped it in Brighton at the Supercar Celebration in 2006. Thats the same car that got you started on Countachs, and if you check your images you will see it is still registered GJK 854 X. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, saw this fine car last year in Duesseldorf / GERMANY. Sorry - no further informations available. Best regards Udo photo: MEILENWERK Duesseldorf - near AUTOBAHN A 46 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
its original livery was rare oro metallizzato longchamp - senape it is one of the first S3 cars, it looked best in its second livery but it would be good to repaint in its original rare color being one of 2, 3 LP400S in that color (imo)
Absolutely fabulous to see a rare-liveried Countach. "Luci del Bosco" is the color I believe. The only other I can recall originally finished in this color would be 1121100, the last S1 built. See comparison between them below. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I remember seeing 1120096 in Switzerland some years ago and it was finished in a similar shade of brown. I don't know either if it was its original color or if it was "Luci del bosco". However, I really loved it in this color which gave an understated 70's feel. I went several times to see it and was interested in purchasing it. Too bad I didn't...
I remember 1120096 (below). Another in the same livery is 1120298 in Florida. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the info Joe! i never would have guessed that someone would repaint such a gorgeous colour, each to his own i suppose. I'm with you though should be restored to original colour. At least its still around. Do you have any more pictures of it in original livery?
It is one thing to inherit or buy a classic car that is already in non-original livery. Completely understandable to just leave it that way. But personally I have already tried the color-change thing. Once. And it was cool at first. For a couple of months. Then the "Is that the original color?" question began to weigh. After a while it just got old. Actually took away from my appreciation and enjoyment of the car. Never again, its just not for me. But I understand those who do...
OK here is 1121320 in its original Oro Longchamps, whilst registered TOO 510 W made to look like TOO SLOW! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like that color. I also like the rims but would really have to see it in person to know for sure about them. I do not like the mirror color however.
