GTB4's will have a bump in the hood to clear the carbs. Regualr GTB's usually don't. there are some other things, but that is what I find the easiset to tell one from the other.

Three clues, serial number, front bumper position, and wheels. This is a short nose 2 cam. w/ smiles Jimmy

Don't forget about the hidden hinges on the rear boot on the early short nose 2 cams vs. the exposed ones on the later cars.

I am sure there are enough experts here to elaborate better than myself, but in short, the serial number is early numbers, thus indicating short nose, front bumper position is lower and different than longnose, and those wheels were quite specific for shortnose models. w/ smiles Jimmy

Also 4 cams usually have a horse above the Ferrari script on the trunk lid

Here are 3 photos to show the differences:

1st photo - 275 GTB (2 cam) Shortnose - small bumpers (although 06449 has very small bumpers) - no bubble or a wide bubble on engine bonnet
2nd photo - 275 GTB (2 cam) Longnose - larger bumper - no bubble or a wide bubble on engine bonnet
3rd photo - 275 GTB/4 - same bumpers as 275 GTB Longnose - small bubble on engine bonnett

    Best regards

A total of about 442 street version 275 GTB 2 cams were made. 246 of them short nose, and 206 long nose. The last 108 long nose cars had the torque tube. This option started at about 08305 and ended the series at 9021. Some cars were steel, others alloy, some 3 carb and some 6 carb. All the 2 cams have a wood dash. I have seen many short nose cars that have been converted to long nose, and some 2 cams with a black vinyl (4 cam style) dash.
I think about 330 275 GTB 4 cams were made.
Lots of good 275 info in Cavallino #9 and a 275 book by Ian Webb.

IIRC, Cavallino circa issue 33 quoted 330 4 cams and 10 NART Spyders, for a total of 340 4 cams produced.

Another little detail: The short nose cars have the door locks built into the handle.

The 1st car has the wipers "park" on the opposite side of the other two. Is this another indication between short nose (2 cam) and long nose (2 cam)???

The wipers were placed incorrectly in that photo which is from the the cover of Cavallino magazine. New photos of that same car taken this week in Paris have wipers in standard position. Maybe the photographer moved them at the Cavallino shoot or it rained and they figured it out.

We did not take special notice to the position of the wipers during the photoshoot for Cavallino magazine. It was not raining that day, but perhaps we might have tested them as it was the very first test drive of 06449 after its restoration!

If you have a look at the 1964 Paris Motor Show photo on page 35 of Cavallino Magazine no. 173, you will see that the wipers back then were also pointing to the right side of the car. Further the 275 GTS and 330 GT 2+2 in that same photo had there wipers in the same position, so perhaps there's no "correct" position.

    Best regards
