Mr Penske along with Parnelli demonstrated superb attention to detail in all aspects as well as waving the US flag. They didn't shove it down everyone's throats. They brought another side to F1 during the early 70s and were respected for it, and were moderately successful. the parnelli was an original team/chassis as was the latter PC1 car from Mr P.

now comparing that to modern day 'All-American' charge..........

Lesson learned. I deserved to be flamed for that idiotic post. Had a couple of glasses of wine and started down a self-righteous path. I hope that is one of the few bad posts in my life.

Yes, but what I was saying is Frank didn't start Team Williams from the ground-up from scratch, he ran a 'customer car' and then evolved it into a Williams. I think even Brabham started with a Cooper(?). I thought Tyrrell started with a March also, ICBW.

Peewee & co. are an insult. IF the hand of God were to reach down with a car the team would still be the laughing stock of the grid.
Unless a US manufacturer gets involved with proper funding(above scenario is more likely) it ain't gonna happen. PW is delusional or a crook, I don't know which.

Shake it off, Chad. You made a good point in that post. As "Oddball" in your avatar would have said, "Enough with the negative waves!"

    You know what ?
These guys are living the dream. They are team owners.
    Building something from nothing.
If they "do what they have to do" to get the ball rolling good for them.
Paying driver ? OK. been done before.
    Dog and Pony show ?
    Bigger companies have started there.
    Lots of mistakes ?
Only way not to make a mistake is to do nothing. Which is the biggest mistake of all.

I actually like to root for the underdog teams.

Half the fans at a typical F1 race have a Ferrari hat. They dont need nor appreciate your individual support.
Bring your Ferrari hat to the dealer and see how far that gets you.

They showed up for the GP of Morocco. 61 years too late. Akin what I expect them to do for this season: Show up years later with their 2010 car...

USA is #1 and it deserves to be represented on world stage by something reflective of that. If not an outright winner at least something with the potential to evolve into one. I don't see any of that in USF1 but I've been wrong before. Twice.

Yes, and I learned many, many things the hard way.

It seems to me that a business plan based on charity is doomed to fail. It is really not the American way. I can instantly think of a dozen more worthy recipients to charitable contributions. But to each his/her own, of course.
