Most welcome, my wife just ordered a case from our local shop and these bottles are a little different, not as tall - more "fire hydrantish" , but just a good! I would tell (warn) you it is 11%....lotsa fun!

Bought a bottle each of Abita's Andygator (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3/1565) and Abbey Ale (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3/45583) for myself. I had the Abbey with Christmas dinner last night and am saving the Andy for the Saints game.

My mom bought me a 6-pack each of Amnesia IPA (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/619/44185), UFO Hefeweizen (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/98/318/), and Xingu Black Beer (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/434/1314/).

As somewhat a gag gift I bought my wife a 6-pack of Alien Amber Ale (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3239/18878/?ba=JerzDevl2000), which was ironic given my mom bought me "UFO".

I'm not a knowledgeable drinker nor do I have a sophisticated tongue which is why I've included links to reviews of each. That said, I've tried all but the Andygator and not one did I consider "bad".

Below are pics of each and I've thrown in a photo of an auto themed wine (http://www.automotowines.com/) I bought for the wine drinkers. It got good reviews; "robust" was one word I recall. Cool "auto" themed website too.

    Cheers!

I bet that is good sh*t!

Shiner has a new seasonal out called, Frost. I highly recommend it! In fact it needs to be released year round because it would quinch that summer thirst.

They also have a new Shiner 101 commemorating their 101st year.

I really like milk stouts and when you add in the coffee it's pure heaven for me. To each his own though.

That Xingu is an odd beer. Pours extremely dark with very little head, almost no carbonation.... But it's so light to drink. You can drink those as a session beer.
    Its one of my favorites

I had to Google "session beer" and found this: http://beeradvocate.com/articles/653
Thanks for the inadvertent vocabulary expansion! :D

My usual session beer is MGD 64. Over the weekend I saw a billboard for Bud Select 55 so that might supplant 64.

This weekend I did try Michelob Porter: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29/31731

disclaimer: As mentioned in an earlier post I don't have the sophisticated (or perhaps trained) tongue for an in-depth review.

That said, it does qualify as "good" to me and I'd drink it again. I recall it had sort of a two-stage taste...one taste in the mouth and another on the way down; does that make any sense? I'm a chocolate candy fan and that was one of the attractions to this beer but I don't really recall a chocolate taste.

haha, don't worry I dont either. I was just curious what you thought.

And yes, what you said does make sense. I know the dual taste. Sometimes it's a good thing, sometimes it's not.

Thanks! The 55 is a great "session beer" (thank you Kyle :D) because its buzz effects are minimal, i.e. its very weak. I went thru a 12 pack one night and didn't realize it; I literally double-checked both fridges for misplaced bottles b/c there was no way I could have had 12 and felt the way I did...wrong.

Taste-wise, though I haven't had them back-to-back (yet) I think I prefer MGD 64 over 55. Humorous comparison: Just Stop It – Bud Select 55 vs. MGD 64

    P.S. (Saints reference again)

I'll probably go NOLA Brewing for the Saints thrashing of the Vikings. NOLA has a short but cool backstory: New Orleans newest microbrewery: "...His fledgling microbrewery, though, had an extra challenge: Coco didn't know how to make beer..."

Picked up Lagunitas The Hairy Eyeball and Sierra Nevada Kellerweis last night.

Haven't tried either, but look forward to it.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo is back on the shelves.

I already commented when you posted this on fb, but damn it that's some good stuff. I believe I can get Nugget Nectar in Houston now.

Had The Hairy Eyeball last night. Pretty damn good. Taste like a amber/stout IPA. Some combo of all 3. And the 8.8% gives a nice buzz.
