I take mine to redline when conditions are good. With the F1 I have only hit the rev limiter a couple of times, funny in my 360 i have hit the limiter many, many times!
Maybe because the 360's sound is not as good I try to rev it higher hoping for the 355 wail!

The 355 doesn't make peak power until ~8200 RPM. I paid for 375hp, so I use it all. Running to redline does not hurt a properly maintained engine at proper operating temperatures. One could argue that accelerating on to the rev limiter isn't good for the engine, while hitting it on downshift is definitely a BAD thing.

Dude - sell it and buy a Buick. Not revving a Ferrari is like hiring a hooker and making her leave her clothes on.

I've only had mine for less than 3 months and I've driven it maybe 7 days total but OMG that harmonious exhaust sound is AWESOME. I must have hit the rev limiter twice already listening and not paying attention to the tach. And I have no regrets. :)

Rev limiters are meant to keep the motor out of trouble. And btw, Gothspeed is right, 8750. I feel cheated I didn't make it to 9000!

Why wouldn't you always drive it in sport mode? Much better for the clutch and so much more fun and I can attest to the car no shifting for you while in sport mode. This morning on my way to buy some groceries as I turned onto the main road I got the car sideways for a good 6 seconds on the rev limiter in 1st before shifting into 2nd.

Driving your F1 in sport mode all the time is best for your clutch. You will get more wear out of it.

Beat me to it :) When I first got mine, I left it in normal mode and didn't like it very much. Once I switched it over to sport mode, it was like a totally different car. It's never been in normal mode since. And yep I do think it's better for the clutch since it snaps the change off much quicker. No slipping involved.

I wish they put the limiter at 9100rpm... :) ............... but currently when necessary (which is most of the time) I shift at 8749rpm..... :D!!!

I feel ya Scott, to me, its like thinking the engine will explode if you hit the limiter, and who wants THAT repair bill right?!?
With these Ferrari's though, you have to change your normal mode of thinking... this is what these cars are intended for.
Look at it this way... if the engine was not designed and tested to tolerate 8750 RPM's, Ferrari would have set the limiter at 7000 RPM's.
Even still, I dont abuse my tach, regardless of capability, i'm still a bit squeemish about hitting those kind of RPM's on a motor
with a timing belt... not to mention TWO! I do hit mine from time to time, and its no worse for wear.

Ferrari engines are engineered to rev high... remember, these are race cars for the street! There are "supercars" out there
now that will turn 10,000 RPM's!!

Sport Mode does a good job of matching the revs during down shifts. Do I need to explain why matching the revs is important and how it relates to clutch wear???? I will. The 355's F1 system is a bit slow and can use a little help by blipping the throttle when downshifting. I have a 575F1 which is faster. I can attest to sport mode being annoying to drive around town. Cluck, cluck, cluck at a red light.

I have hit 8500 rpm each and every time I have ever driven my car, I make sure of it as it's the 355's shining moment!

    Your original post says

"Driving your F1 in sport mode all the time is best for your clutch. You will get more wear out of it."

This is exactly what I said.

I'm confused as to whether your original post intended to say something else or you are confused by my post.

I can say I've only bounced off the rev limiter on two separate episodes during my first year of ownership. What an amazing sound when your up there and that happens.

All time. Took it to Road America last year and was on the redline all the time. This is where the power is on a F355. That is way many think it is slow. On a track keep it above 6000rpm and to redline. On the street, you can't go fast enough to want to go to redline.

Your clutch will wear less in sport mode is what I was trying to say.

On a serious note, these cars need to be driven. You should really let the car warm up first. Get the oil flowing. Then it is safe to rev the car over 3500 RPMS. I find anything over 6800 RPM's the car is just sucking air. The sweet spot is 6250 Rpm. That's full power in my opinion. Someone can post a dyno chart and give you the exact number.
I'm not telling to go out and bounce your car off the rev limiter in the neighborhood. Just once in awhile let the 355 engine breath. Just break up that carbon build up and get it out of the engine.

Most 355 dyno graphs I've seen put peak HP at around 8200-8300.

Yes, several times within the last year. No worse for the wear! Try and hit the 8500 mark, but hey sometime the foot - hand coordination is off a bit. Right foots a bit faster.

Have not tracked the car, but did do the FCA West Virginia tour last year, great fun in the mountains at 5000+.

As a F355 driver with at least 20 minutes at or above red line, I can honestly say that, while it has been in my hands, its only bounded off the rev limiter 3 times.

Watch my shift light. Second yellow light is set a 6200 RPMS.

My rev limiter was removed and reset to 9000 rpms.
