That's a sweet car. My personal favorite in the styling department of any Porsche car is that era.

I figured as much, but had some nice daydreams thinking about that marvelous beast on the twisty road to my house nonetheless.

If you happen to (lose your mind and) decide to let the red one go for my offer, I'll take it without hesitation. ;) Otherwise, I'll be more than happy with that ride.

Thanks again, Michael, for sharing your toys. See you at CB.

    Best,
    Tad

I love that car. The double stripes are a nice touch. As regards to it being a replica, so what. The real ones are never seen on the street, so most people only know about the 550 Spyder from the replicas, and James Dean. Some day I want to build a black one with red stripes like the ones on your car.

Has anybody built one with a Subaru wrx flat 4?

As stated in another post. That is a VW type 1 engine with an aftermarket 911 syle fan shroud. The indicators are the valve covers, magnesium engine case and the exhaust header. VW engines with the 911 fan shroud is a popular combo for the speedster and 550 replica's. I did some work on a RS60 Spyder with a 2275cc VW T1 engine and it was a handfull just in the parking lot. Huge grinns.
