    Great stuff Paul.

Looking at the detail in your rebuild is very impressive.

Very interesting to see all the photos and read about your experience.

Would love to pay you a visit again for a closer look.

    Paul -

Is your head gasket OEM? From the picture, it looks different -- but it could just be the flash on your camera. We just ran into a few OEM ones that seemed to have significant sealing problems. Feel free to PM me if you prefer.

Hi there Dan, the head gaskets are not OEM, i got them from Euro spares they came in a full gasket kit. I have sprayed them with some Loctite Gasket Adhesive which i use all the time with motorcycle engine builds.

What has been the issue with your gaskets ? where have they leaked

Thanks for your kind words, if it turns out half as good as yours i will be more than happy.

You are welcome any time Terry, but would leave it until after spring as this is when i should get the car back from the paint shop.

    Best RGS Paul

    Bit of an update.

Bothe cylinder heads are on. Cam belt and cams timed up with the marks on the cam caps, got to now check the timing to see where i am at.

Been refitting the engine loom back and cam to fit the water manifold one of the small water pipes was badly corroded. Priced one up from Ferrari £80.00 + Tax !! so i made one out of brass. For anyone who wants to know the thread is M12 By 1.25 pitch.

Also been building up the inlet manifolds and fitted 8 new fuel injectors Bosch part # 0 280 150 731, got them though a Ex 348 owner who is a “Bosch” dealer, cost around £50.00 each which i don’t think is a bad price.

    Hope You like

Just a few updates from the paint shop.

LH side rear quarter changed, all paint removed inc all door shuts, window recesses and engine bay.

All panels acid etch primed, then the straightening out of the panels can begin. Alun (the body shop guy) has spent hours filling and sanding back to get the body work arrow straight and shut lines just perfect. The car is then sprayed in a high build primer and a black “guide” coat applied to it.

The process starts again block sanding the high build primer (dry sanding only - with a 440mm block) and stopper filling the low spots.

Last few photos are the 2nd refit of the front end, Alun has made some mods to the wings (fenders) where they meet the door and windscreen pillars.
As you can see in the photos, it is not much but it makes the gap much better.

Iam very happy with Alun’s work his attention to detail is outstanding, i can not recommend him enough.

Took a 260 mile a round trip today to see the car at Alsa automotive.

Al showed me all the hard work he has put into the body to get it straight and sharp.

The photos don’t do his work justice; the car is only in it 1st stage of primmer so cannot see all the detail but it look miles better that before.

Alun hopes to get some colour on it in the next few weeks.
Cannot wait the see it painted

Thought i would update with what has been going on.
The main body of the car is now painted, as you can see by the photos there has been a fair bit of prep work to areas they are not shown when the car is built up. This is the level of detail Alun goes to.

I have done a fair bit of work on the rest of the car. I have rebuilt both fuel pumps, cut open the fuel tank to re attach a baffle that had come loose. And most important bench tested the engine, i have not seen it run for nearly 4 years ! And when i did last run it was with a std exhaust.

I have never had it running with Tubi. I have been dreaming of the day i could start up the engine with it fitted and late last night is got my wish.

With the engine strapped to the bench it fired right into life and settled down to a nice idle. I have now run it for around 15 minutes with no oil leaks or any worrying noises. I hope to take a video of it and put it on YouTube.

Would now be a good time to change the two a/c hoses that run from the evaporator to the back of the car? ;);)
