As a pre-owner, I am delighted that prices are soft and getting softer.

    As an owner, I'm not.

I think both those statements are implied and don't really need to be broadcasted

Sounds like a good deal. Wouldn't mind using it as a track car.

Unfortunately that's the market. Early 348s are wholesaling for mid-20's at best now and I've seen a few advertised retail at 29k. Low-mid 30's is pretty much top dollar for 89-91, somewhat more for the later cars. You can see them advertised all day long for much higher prices but those aren't sellers, just people posting pictures. This guy is a seller and I will bet you can pick that car up for 30k or less if you show up with the cash.

I'm sorry to rain on a parade, but they are what they are. Mid 30's is all the money (IMHO) on a non-Spider with low miles and recent service. Mine is high miles, non-desirable 1990 model. If I tried to sell today, I'd be happy with 30. I'm not selling it, because I enjoy the car.... but I'm certainly not under any impression it'll gain in value -- regardless of how the economy moves in the coming months/years.

I bought it because its a car, not a treasury note.

If you would like for the value of your car to really insult you, I suggest you go buy a Cayman S, put conservative miles on it, keep it in great condition, then try to sell it after 2 1/2 years. :)

At least Ferraris seem to level off somewhere or depreciate at a slower rate after the initial hit. I think it will be a looooong while before nice 348s, even early examples, dip lower than that, and if the economy stabilizes, who knows? I don't necessarily think they will do what the 246 has done, but they are still fairly rare and should rebound a little if the market does the same, yeah?

I could be wrong, but I'm not expecting to lose $21,000 of value in the first two years and 9-10,000 miles of ownership when I get a F car. The Cayman S has been a wonderful car, and I don't regret it one bit, but I probably should have gone for the Ferrari in retrospect. I was concerned about exorbitant maintenance, then I figured out that I had paid for about 4 major services in two years of owning the CS, not to mention higher personal property taxes, higher insurance, and $1400 worth of service. So, I seriously have to question my logic at the time...oh well, that's what I get for buying new :)

    What they said.

The economy is still weak, and the serious money is going into vintage cars and new or nearly-new.

One thing that is missing is the date and extent of the major. Major seems to mean different things to different owners. I would also like to know the date of the major. It could have been 5 years ago depending on how much he drives the car. When specific details are not included in a listing, it usually means that detail would not be a positive for selling the car. If the service has been done within the past 2 years, I would consider the price to be good if the rest of the car is in excellent condition. If the maintenance was done more than 4 years ago, he will have to lower the price if he is dealing with an informed buyer.
It seems if the car is nice, he would have taken it out into the sun where he could have taken some good pictures of it.

You misinterpret. The claim of why is it inexpensive being because it is yellow is a compliment to the yellow cars. I am basically saying that it should normally be a higher selling price.
I like your caar in the profile pic! The targa is great, I miss mine (sold for $37,500)...

BS otherwise prove it. you can't buy a 348 in North America for less then 35k unless they have over 50 - 60k miles.
