Ferrari gets pole, starts and stays in front on race day, short shifts to conserve fuel and tyres...too hard for anyone to overtake....they win :)

i should be a strategist on an F1 team :)

    Lets see-

quick check of the numbers this morning versus day 2

Alonso 1:11.470 vs Masa 1:11.70 ahead by .23
Schumi 1:12.48 vs Rosberg 1:12.899 ahead by .42
Button 1:12.591 vs Ham 1:12.256 behind by .34
PdL 1:12.094 vs Koba 1:12.056 behind by .04

If the trend continues, Alonso may be the first to see a 1:10.xx may end up well faster than Masa - What a great showing for Ferrari!
Saubber/ Ferrari still second fastest and drivers appear very close in light of red flag
Button holding his own - good for him!
Schumi has the largest improvement and may see 1:11.xx today- Looks like he'll get #3 after all

Schumey still top 3...how about 'ol PDLR; even with all of the early testing caveats, I STILL wouldn't have expected his pace.

So far this week, Schumacher has been quicker than Rosberg, Alonso quicker than Massa, Kobayashi quicker than de la Rosa, Hamilton quicker than Button, Kubica quicker than Petrov, Alguersuari quicker than Buemi, and Barrichello quicker than Hulkenberg..

    No surprises there then.

Yes and yes Steve. It will be interesting to see how this whole refueling ban will work out. Qualifying should be fun :D

Interesting; Ferrari are doing longer runs now and Alonso's times are in the 1:15, 1:16 range. Sauber is also reported to be running 20 kilos less fuel than everyone else.
It's really difficult to analyze these times...
McLaren's use of the flos- vis paint is really effective. This gives them an instant interpretation of the airflow; which led to their mid- year revival last year...

I too thought it was aero paint first, but look at the suspension - a lot of it on the left side, some drops on the right, I'm not sure it's meant to be like that... then again, what fluid in the car would be green? :p

No surprises indeed. I know I said earlier on that one should take testing times with a pinch of salt BUT that doesn't necessarily go for the teammates.

Re: flow-vis paint. They used it yesterday on the front left wing & left rear. Ham went ou for quick one lap stints to get an analysis. Not sure if they are using it today....

Brawn stated they have a balance issue with the car that kept them from making further improvements. They know how to fix it. Should be good for Jerez.

FRA - nice city with a really big airport :)
FA was quicker than Felipe within 25 laps of driving the car. Impressive. Im not the biggest FA fan but that does show what he can do. The conditions were a bit warmer today and that also might have been a bit of the difference.

So far, the Ferrari is impressive and so are both the drivers. Not a bad start so far!!!

IIRC engine modifications are still not allowed so its safe to say that the Ferrari engined cars will use more fuel and the mercedes engined cars use very little (as do the renault engined cars).

Good showing by Ferrari. Official attendance today 36,400; more than some of the crappy GP's (Turkey?)
next week should be mega; Red Bull's new car is rumored to be revolutionary, lots of new tricks.
Ross Brawn also stated that Jerez has a much better layout (for all teams) to really start some effective testing.
Very interesting that there were few mechanical failures...

The track seems to be getting faster each day as it accumulates rubber in the racing lines.

Great to hear that both Ferrari drivers are doing well in testing.

Hope this trend will continue in Jerez and of course at the start of the grand prix.

    Forza Ferrari.

True enough Bas, unless there doing different sort of tests, we don't really know if any of them are just going out to check for raw pace, I'm sure some has gone on though.

Is it safe to say the Ferrari engined cars are going to require a little heavier fuel load? They are more thirsty.

It's no secret that I don't like Alonso but at least he's fitting in with the team and driving the car super quick!
