This is great news for him, look forward to seeing him at the autograph sessions. Hopefully, he'll have the opportunity to be in the 24h as well.

The 37-year-old Italian, who is a test and reserve driver at Ferrari, had been hoping to secure a race deal elsewhere in Formula 1, but will instead race in sportscars for the first time.

The Le Mans Series today announced that Fisichella will race the full season, but no details have been released about what class, car or team he will drive in.

Both Ferrari and Maserati, which is also part of the FIAT brand, have sportscar programmes running GT2 and GT1 cars respectively.

Would be more fun if he were to do ALMS. :(

Pretty cool news! I too wish he would do ALMS so I could meet him in Utah. :)

I'd be highly surprised if it wasnt in GT2 with AF Corse in one of their 430s. Perhaps with Jean Alesi who has been linked with AF Corse in LMS? Hopefully Fisi does Le Mans too.

11 LMP1, 16 LMP2, GT1 and then 2 ... 15 GT2. The battle promises to be intense with not less than five brands represented. Spyker C8 Laviolette with. Aston Martin Vantage with two: one for JMW Motorsport and one for ... James Watt Automotive. BMW would be a M3 for Team Schnitzer (Jorg Muller / Dirk Werner) which confirms the approval of the beautiful German. Ferrari will again be present en masse, with eight F430: not less than three AF Corse, including one assigned to a duo consisting of Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander, and another driven by Jean Alesi, Jaime Melo and Gimmi Bruni, two CRS Racing, one for Hankook, one for JMB and to Modena. Reply with Porsche RSR only three: two for Felbermayr-Proton and for IMSA Performance.
