One of the best and most entertaining games of all time. Saints just kept Payton Manning out of the game. Real good coaching.

Just got home from spending ALL day in the French Quarter. Good game to the Colts.

As postulated, it came down to a major turnover. No actual way to describe the reaction witnessed/partaken on Bourbon St. Literally epic/once in a lifetime!

Although a little disappointed...offered a free and clear $100 bet on the Cardinals game. Many talkers, no takers. Then offered another free and clear $100 bet on the Vikings game. Again, many talkers, no takers.

Finally offered the same $100 free and clear bet on this last game. Many talkers. No takers.

Oh well, little known fact that this Super Bowl was originally slated to take place in New Orleans this year. Katrina interfered.

Everyone who sucked on Peyton Manning gets to see that Brees has, now, the same amount of Super Bowl rings, BUT, has the 2nd all-time single season passing yard record (short of 1st by 15 yards) and the ALL-TIME passing completion record set this season. The guy is nuts. Done. Over.

Would anyone happen to know what the beginning of the season odds were for the Saints to win the super bowl ? Or Indy for that matter ?

Not at all. There are multiple football leagues including a European league. Without question the Super Bowl winner is indeed the World Championship team because the NFL is the preeminent league with the best players. Same with baseball , same with basketball.

    Brees 32 of 39 passes.

    16 of 17 in the 2nd half.

    No Saints turnovers.

    Peyton who???

Watched the game in the French Quarter. At the bar was an older guy who worked the net in the Superdome for field goals. Somehow ended up picking him up while he high fived everyone in the place as the Saints sealed the victory. EPIC!!!!

And that's what I meant when I started reading 2-3 weeks ago about Peyton being 'the best ever'. Now, I firmly believe he is in the top-15, maybe the top-10, but you look back in time IN THE ERAS QB'S PLAYED IN and you cannot say he is the best-ever.
Today it is a passing game, go beyond 5 years ago and it wasn't really, so you cannot compare the QB's, the ERAs in the same light. Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, Fran Tarkenton: among the best-ever. So was Archie and Dan Pastorini, and those two poor souls got HAMMERED every game, but they are two of the best, they just happened to play for crappy teams.

I very seriously doubt anyone could challenge them.

Now, if you say that about an NBA championship team, or a World series winner, or a Stanley Cup winner, I might agree with you since those are 'world' sports, but nobody else plays football as we know it.
    (this isn't soccer)

Big congrats to the Saints. From Q2 on, they controlled the ball and the clock and kept Peyton off the field.

There were only a few brief moments of Colts brilliance, but not what was needed to win the game. Colts defense couldn't have tackled a shopping cart yesterday.

Only one sack and one pick yesterday. Showed good QB protection and QB accuracy.

I'm obviously bummed the Colts lost, but this was the match-up I had wanting all season, so I'm happy about that. Also happy the Saints finally made it to the Big Show and got their long needed win.

For the local Indiana crowd, there was some extra interst in the Saints...Porter went to IU and Brees went to Purdue, so at least a couple of Indiana guys there really shined.

Congrats to the Saints. Hope to see you guys in the SB next year for a rematch.

Two teams that the majority of america didn't HATE?

Man, I sure would have loved to be in the French Quarter yesterday - or now, for the next 2-3 weeks.

had i of known that would happen in advance, i would have booked a flight and taken the next few weeks off of school, :)

as for the world champions issue, it's no different than in baseball, although there is a team in canada, but there is word that selig is interested in trying to get the world series winner and the japanese champion to meet for a game or a series for a true world champion. but yeah, i agree, there is NOWHERE else that can match america in football.

For those of you that travel to 3rd world countries, make sure you keep a look out for shirts proclaiming the Colts won the 44th SB.

Reebok has a plant in Indy that prints these shirts for the NFL. They had already run a bunch of shirts stating the Colts won (They always run a buch of both in advance to get a head start on demand). As in the past, these "misprints" are sent to 3rd world countries as donations. FYI, they are currently maxing production to keep up with demand.

Just imagine the looks you would get showing up on Bourbon Street wearing one of these misprint shirts?!? I suspect head scratching followed by out-right denial of the obvious.

Also, if you find an extra shirt, I wear an XL. LOL!

As for all of you Saint fans, I fully expect all of you to be wearing your Saint SB 44 Champ shirts. Don't disappoint...show that pride!!!

Actually, the trend of sending 'misprint' shirts started at least as far back as 1983 with NCAA football 'national champs' shirts. It may be before 83 as well, but I know for sure it was at least 1983..

Well, it appears the only 'foreign' country that is well-represented in the NFL is... Haiti, with about 7 that I know of.

I couldn't disagree more. To declare yourselves World Champions is to suggest you have participated in a sport that is truly world wide in participation and played throughout the world to a good level. This is not nearly the case with American football. It's not a world sport, it's not played much around the world and holds very little credibility with worldwide sports fans.

The title 'World Champions' is almost exclusively reserved for competitions competed for by Nations, not club sides or franchises. The only exception being in football. Where the winners of the European cup play the winners of the Copa Libertadores (Champions of Europe vs Champions of South America). Even that isn't taken too seriously and being the biggest sport on the planet by some distance, it can be excused.

I enjoy the NFL, i love the Superbowl, but world champions the winners aint.
