Nor can I but it's certainly a slow burner (as one might have expected given the level of change being taken on).

I feel the completion date is going to slide and slide and slide but sure if we all get the photos and updates it'll be interesting reading!

Good luck Sy - I feel you're going to need patience and deep pockets on this project! Hope it's worth it in the end.

This project can burn as slow as it likes, its his project. It should be a great and rare conversion when its done.
Looking forward to this threads development, for the right reasons;)

The engine is still in the crate as we've been doing other non-348 things. Plus the snow didn't help.

Things should start progressing faster now as we need the car ready for testing at Silverstone racetrack in Mid April. Make sure you come down that day!!!

Hey Sy, trying to play catch up here.
As a designer I like graphic so here are a couple suggestions and comments.

    1. I always like black but in this case I think it will get lost down there with one exception, Use yellow plug wires to contrast against the red valve covers.

    2. The blue would look cool if it was contrasted with yellow plug wires against the red valve covers...a primary color combo would look very graphic when seen together and very 'race car' oriented.

    3. The gray is very cool when again contrasted with yellow plug wires and the red valve covers.

I had yellow plug wires on my Rossa Corsa Cobra and 356 Porsche and they always commanded a lot of attention. A little more cleaning required but easy to do and worth the effort as far as unique and contrasting, besides yellow contrasting red is a Ferrari signature racing combination.

    Me follow you around???

Unlikely, as I'll be letting the air out of your tyres when you aren't looking!!!

Thanks Dennis, sounds very interesting. Didn't think of yellow, although they may show the dirt quicker.

Not sure what we are going to do with the mainfolds now. May get some new ones made up rather than coat teh existing ones. Once we talke my enmgine out, we'll take the manifolds apart and have a look.

Don't suppose anyone has a picture of the 348 mainfolds without the heatshield on?

Yesterday, we visited Patrick at Quantum Racing and picked up the suspension kit.

    www.quantumracing.co.uk

The dampers are beautifully constructed and we spent a couple of hours looking around and being shown how they are made. Very impressive and Patrick was a great host.

The dampers are two way adjustable and can be adjusted for stiffness using a dial at the top. I stuck with the trademark Quantum Racing colours of purple and black. Springs are of a medium stiffness.

    Sy,

I`d keep well away from Andrew, well known destroyer of 348`s :) :)

I will be booking a day off from work for the FOC trackday, looking forward to seeing the beast......

A pic of a bare 348 manifold from Paul V`s thread, pm Paul he may have more pics of his manifolds?

 I most certainly am not... I've only set fire to a Peugeot (not my fault), two Skodas (one was old, one was faulty - neither my fault), a SmartCar (ok, totally my mistake), and a MINI (overenthusiastic braking).

I was perfectly well-behaved when Sy took me out for my first ever ride in a Ferrari yesterday - in his 348 no less! :D :D :D

    Thanks again Sy!

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    ahhh... of course!!

    Thanks for reminding me Phil.

I've been offered a set of 348GTC manifolds. I've heard conflicting information about them. Some say it gives an extra 10bhp, others say it's teh same as a standard exhaust.

    Any idea who is right?

    I still don't get it.

You setting in my car??? I'd better have the corner weigts adjusted!!!!!!!!!!

No problem Andrew. Only sorry it was a short ride. Yesterday was very hectic.

    Hi Andrew,

No not you :D, this Andrew well known in the FOC as Mad dog due to his habit of leaving the blackstuff and liking bushes......!!!!! :D :D :D

Glad you had your first ride in a Ferrari, even better that it was a 348!

    Regards,
    Phil.

No need to be sorry Sy, I was thrilled just to be allowed to sit in it for a moment - so the ride was a huge bonus! :D

Whew - close one. :) I've already got a reputation (not entirely earned, I don't think) for destroying cars on the MINI forum. Good to know I haven't developed the same here before I've even bought my Ferrari! :D

Ah, is that the Andrew that goes by the screen name XSV348 (image of replacement 355 and upside-down bush-stranded 348)? That certainly looked scary!!! (Mad Dog, indeed!) :p

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Now come on guys, lets keep this on topic! Always amazed how much air i need to let out Sy so feel free to help!

A little cruel, anyone can have a little off.

No sniffing my a*rse allowed on track!

Crueller, lets not hijack Sys thread now with this, i am now calm dog and intend to complete a year without damage.
and as for that pic, wish i had sucked in my middle as much as she did.

on topic - things looking great Sy, wonderful work. do you have a budget for this or a bottomless pit?

Cant wait till we see it all working.
