That's like having a brand new 355! Yeah it *almost* makes you not want to drive it...but now you see that it can be brought back nicely.

I'm doing mine right now too, looks amazing!!! I'm no pro, but after watching the Griot's DVD I figured I'd give it a shot. WOW!!!

The car looks great! Nice that the article has links to the products themselves .... a nice way to get some other stuff outside of the usual Mother's/Meguiars stuff that I am used to. I recently bought some stuff from Griot's, so I'm also waiting to get my cars sparkling clean in the Spring!

It depends how bad the oxidation is; mine was very bad so I glass bead blasted the whole thing (no longer shiny, now has a matte finish). Then I sanded the tips with very fine sand paper (600-2000 grit), then used a metal polish. Looks great!

Most of the discoloration is from actual molecular-level changes in the metal due to heat effects. You can do as Jay suggested above, or just use some Semi-Chrome metal polish and lots of elbow-grease.

For information's sake, the Eastwood Company makes a high temperature clear coat to prevent polished metals (e.g., aluminum valve covers) from oxidation. However, the maximum temperature is approximately 400 degrees F, unfortunately much too low for use on an exhaust system.
