It's made the rounds... ex Nick Cage car (used to be green). There was a thread on it "selling" on ebay a month or so back. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=270013&highlight=cage
I have spoken with the onwer via phone and email months ago - he sounds like like a real tool! He has the car listed as no mods all orignal ... hmm completely different paint job, rims and (3) different steering wheel combos. OH yeap and his price - My god way too expensive ... It just doesn't add up IMHO...
It was a fraudulent listing. I bid on the car just for fun, and it was for sale no reserve and this AM I woke up and it was no longer for sale. Ebay is investigating... I think he got cold feet and backed out. TOOOOOOOOL! MB
I agree the guy is a foolish person as he has had this car listed too many times once the bidding went to 69k and did'nt sell - I reported him to ebay as well.
I've seen the car in person... it's in rough shape. Seems to have an aftermarket exhaust on it too. Seems like he was willing to take a lowball offer though.
Its listed again...I spoke with him months ago and I offered him 40k but he seemed to think 60k was a fair price...
Car relisted as NO reserve - Let see if he ends the auction early again - My guess is the car won't go much higher than 40k and he'll pull the auction...
Q: Is this the Ferrari that sold for $39k last week? Just currious, nice profit for you. A: No, this is the first time listed for sale since 1998. Thanks
It's also on craigslist for $75k. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/1609764333.html I hope they never sell this POS. Maybe we should just piss them off by each one of us offering them like $40k every other day...
http://www.mohrimports.com/view_inventory_details.php?car_id=204 Absolutely stunning that they would outright lie like that. I didn't cross reference VIN # but the pics are clearly the same. Someone should called BBB and eBay because I bet it didn't sell legit. At least any potential buyers might read our dialogue before hand but this is garbage and I hope no one gets screwed.
If its not been listed before, they must have snatched the license plate off the "other" car listed several times. BTW, it was not just green, but chamelion green, gold, etc....
Here's the result when he was selling the car under the bidder ID ferrari456gtiselegant: http://feedback.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=ferrari456gtiselegant&&sspagename=VIP:feedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller
New seller states: Q: Interesting- this exact VIN # has been listed at least 3 times the past 6 weeks. It "sold" last week at $39.1k. Different car? Feb-23-10 A: This is the same car. The car was just consigned to us. I see the old auctions but we weren't involved in the sale or purchase of this car. Sorry for all the confusion on this listing- when I reciveved the first email regarding if this is the same car or not - I didn't look at the item number and got it confused with the 88 Ferrari 328 we also have listed. Thanks, I imagine he's not aware of all the eBay shenanigans...
So an enterprising individual bid on it due to no reserve, and picked it up for $40k. they then consigned it to a dealer to sell at a profit. If it works out, maybe they make 50% on their money in a month or two when the dealer sells it, and if doesn't work out then they keep a nice driver. That is a good way to make money on Ebay if you have $40k to put down. If I had $40k, I would have considered that as a daily driver. But not at its new price.
I don't believe this car ever changed hands for one minute. What is more likely is that the dealer listed the car several times under the initial ebay seller ID, and someone snipped the bid and "won" it. At that point, the seller reneged on the auction and received negative feedback. From there, they listed it under another seller ID they have access to.
agreed, it does look sketchy.... I am shocked, SHOCKED, at the possibility! The seller on the no reserve auction had 0 history, so must have invented the ID just for this sale. This car sale and this thread may keep going for months, or years....
newly listed on Autotrader by PRIVATE SELLER in Cupertino, not the dealer...the shenanigans continue! here is a link- http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=p&car_id=275509264&dealer_id=65066141&car_year=1995&rdm=1260419958378&lastStartYear=1981&model=456GT&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1995&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=FER&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=84060&advanced=&end_year=2010&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=611&standard=false
Is this the same VIN? It's the same car, right down to the 360 wheels. Price now $39,995 obo which is, at least, the proper ball park. I still wouldn't touch it though.
