Ah, too easy mate! Stilll seem like decent numbers. Lets hope its not a cracked head!! Lol lol lol! Lol, have fun with it man. I did a headgasket the other day on a Ford Courier turbo diesel. Was an easy job thank ****. Ah, THATS right!!
I don't think this will be as easy unfortunately now where is Marc's number Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks normal to me so far.All the BMW M50/M52 engines get gummed up like that. You'd be mad to take it to BMW - its not a complicated engine. Are you on the GC? PM me if you want a good mechanic who can put it right. He works on Ferrari's too.
haha exactly what I was thinking I don't think it's worth the price of a box of matches I did have BJ looking for an M3 for me before xmas, should have made the move then
you know, I use to love working on cars and making them work perfectly, but after pulling nearly all this modern crap off this car JUST to get to the heads it seems to have lost it's romance
Lol!! Yeah man, tell me about it. On some 'normal' cars, you spend 2 hrs pulling the car apart just to access the cam belt. Spend 10 mins replacing the cam belt then you spend another 4 hrs putting it all back together. Lucky you charge them by the hour when you run a business. I do that **** for friends, for free. I should start charing them ****s by the hour!!!!!
yeah I've helped heaps of friends with their cars over the years for a few dozen beers and the odd shag , and rebuilt quite a few of my cars engines, the 1 thing I've always had a problem with is the distributor on the older cars, you could get them 180 degrees out of whack when the engine is on TDC and I always seemed to get them out EVERY time I did it. The QV is a dead simple car (suits it's dead simple owner) but I like to have Marc work on mine as I know he does a meticulous job and he can diagnose my car over the phone if something goes wrong.
Hehe! Those dizzy's gave me hell too the first few times. All fun and games though. Yep! 348 is very simple too. Id be ****ting bricks if I had to diagnose a 430 that wont start without the help of an SD3. Scuba diving?? You are Scuba Steve.
+1 TK head check. This is how I diagnosed my WRX. Air in the cooling system is possible but TK will confirm Co2 in the cooling system, if it's there the head is coming off...
I went to Repco, Supercheap and Autobahn, nobody had heard of this kit, but you guys are right, well with Horsey was there any doubt
Sorry to hear about this JM; maybe you should just keep the engine as a display piece, it kinda looks 'bronzed' in the pics. And don't feel too bad about about getting your distributor out 180deg, every time I change the leads on the Bambino I have to ring up the mechanic to ask which cylinder is number 1...
they do now, car left on tilt tray just now I asked them if they could burn it it's numero uno from memory .... don't they stamp it on the dizzie ?
