Thanks to Dave on the underside of the planet, the hi-comp pistons made it! The material published for the lemans spec Borgo pistons is that the top and second rings are 1.5mm with a 2.8mm oil scraper. The first two specs are true, but the oil scrapers measure out to be a gigantic 5mm! I am going to call NPR or Total seal and see what we can do to get these things. I don't know of anything other than a Lamborghini 350 V12 and early Porsche 356 which uses an oil scraper this size. The two top rings are the easy part as a mid-'80s Toyota Corolla uses identical rings. Hopefully putting this ring pack together won't be a bigger deal than it needs to be.

As for the great big dome, it is somewhere between 15cc and 16cc and protrudes .340" from the deck of the piston. This is freaking huge compared to the stock 5.8cc dome.

If anyone has suggestions other than what I am planning for scraper rings, let me know!

Maybe cut for a std US 3/16" oil control ring set?

.187" = 4.75MM. Dunno how tight they are supposed to fit when installed, I never measured clearance after installation.

nope, won't work. there are specific 5mm scraper rings out there, just not many use them. I suspect this is because an oil control ring does not need to be even close to that size

Are you rebuilding your engine or something??

Or more specifically, what is your project?? FWIW I would be glad to come up and help out - I know you know TONS more about this stuff than I do. So I have a free pair of hands anytime I can make it up there!!

Personally, I think it's something in the water. Could be something the government has cooked up relating to the upcoming census. Congrats - John!
