At this point their salvation will start with someone putting them (and us) out of their misery.
It wouldn't seem that there's enough there to build on.

So if this turns out to be true (I have My doubts quite frankly as VW have only recently said that they are not interested in entering F1 and it would be a massive turn around), what happened to all the conspiracy theorists ideas that were saying Bernie was hoping to replace Campos with Stefan GP?. (I suppose they will now say he's pushing to replace USF1 with Stefan GP).

If USF1 and Campos are out, there's room for both isn't there..

True, but people were saying that Bernie was pushing to get Stefan GP in first due to having close ties with the owner. It just seems it would be a bit of a betrayal then, to tie in with VW to take over Campos and ensure they get in before Stefan GP (assuming that the Stefan GP/Bernie story is also true).

If USF1 make it to the grid this year (a big "IF" for some, but time will tell), and Bernie and VW do take over Campos and enter F1, that leaves Stefan GP out in the cold despite a supposed deal having been done with Bernie.

I'm still sceptical about all of these stories to be honest. I'm not convinced that Bernie and VW are going to buy Campos, I'm not prepared to rule out USF1 being on the grid despite the doubters and their evidence and I'm not convinced that if either USF1, Campos or the pair of them fail to make it this year, that the FIA will snap up an entry from Stefan GP.

I can't shake the feeling that Stefan GP have constantly tried to gatecrash the party and the FIA aren't that interested in letting them in. Afterall, if they don't take Stefan GP onboard, it's not exactly like the grids will be empty compared to previous seasons (there would still be 22 cars on the grid this season compared with 20 cars previously).

Campos investor to be announced on Tuesday - insider

A redeeming investor for the embattled Campos team is reportedly set to be announced on Tuesday.

Amid rumours the Spanish outfit is unable to pay its bills to its suppliers, including Dallara and Cosworth, an insider told Germany's Auto Motor und Sport: "Within the next 24 hours we will announce our new investor".

However, suggestions that the investor is A1 chief Tony Teixeira have run out of steam, with multiple sources agreeing that the South African's promised money did not materialise.

A Spanish newspaper said last week that Volkswagen, as well as Bernie Ecclestone and Adrian Campos' existing business partner Jose Ramon Carabante, had joined forces to rescue the Valencia based team.

"I know the story only from the internet, and because I called our (Dakar rally) driver Carlos Sainz at the weekend to tell me what was reported in the newspapers," said VW's sports director Kris Nissen.

Former Force India team boss Colin Kolles has also denied his involvement, while the latest well-known name linked with Campos is Geoff Willis.

Briton Willis, the 50-year-old former Honda and Red Bull technical head, attended last week's Jerez test, and one photographer's long lens captured the word 'Dallara' on his notepad.
