Welcome to f-chat! It's among the best car communities on the net. To be honest, I don't think you'll have a problem fitting in the California. Anything made prior to the 360, though, will be a little cramped for you (at your current weight - 300 lbs).

I'm right around 200 lbs. (would like to lose 30 but have serious pizza problem) and fit fine in my 308. Getting out's the prob, especially with a creaky old back and legs.

I'm afraid I can't help with your specific question, as I only just sat in my first ever Ferrari this past Friday afternoon. However, you were saying you're in North Alabama... although I'm currently in Scotland, I was born in Huntsville! My parents still live there and I'll be visiting in July. I'm big. Most are just fine - F430, 360, 550, 456 are very comfortable.

355/348 and 328/308 are cozy and snug - meaning I fit but probably not great for extended driving - one thing for me in a 328 is that my shin rests on the edge of the center column in order to reach the pedals.

 

Never owned a Fcar so can't comment on if you'll fit or not. I do want to congratulate you on your weight loss. It's not easy to make the life style change required to lose 40 lbs so that in itself is an acheivment. My mother is 61 years old and has lost 50 lbs with weight watchers and I couuldnt be more proud of her too. IMO, I'd stick with trying to get the California your wanting. It'll help with motivation on days it's low.

A friend of mine had a Mondial, which was his daily driver, and he was right around your weight. He had no problem getting in and out.

 

I saw someone driving a 512TR a few years ago, and he was big guy. So, if he could fit in that, I would think you'd be fine in the Cali.

 

yes im 5 foot 8 277 pounds. i love ferrari's and thinking of buying one. ive dreamed of owning one since childhood but over the years ive put on alot of weight. i was 350 but now at 277. could i fit and get in and out of a ferrari and be comfortable ?

 

Most of the modern ones offer a range of racing seat sizes.......

I also once jammed a Policeman in full belt gear, all that radio and gun jazz, into my 308GTB for a blast to the parts store...

He was ahead of me in line for an Inspection Sticker....LOL!

The 612 is the modern cruiser 2+2, very comfortable with power to match!!!

 

Many classic Ferraris might be a fairly tight fit, but the more modern cars are large enough to accommodate a couple of full-grown grizzlies.

At only 277, you've nothing to worry about with the latest fleet.

 

what about 458 italia ?

 

I'd estimate that it's a lot better bet than a 3x8. At least, the 458 looks absolutely enormous next to a 308!

Still, your likeliest vehicle would be one of the front-engined 12's: a 550, 575, 599 or 612. The new FF, if you're one of those people who inexplicably can stand its looks, might also be a possibility.

 

I was 6'1" 240 lbs when I owned my F355 and i fit just fine.

My buddy is 6'11" 350 lbs and he couldnt fit in it.

There is a lot of room inside the F355 width-wise. Theres no center console to get in your way. F355 seats are also not very form fitting which for you would be good.

 

One could make the case, that Ferraris themselves, have become fat asses.

First of all, welcome!

Comfort is terribly subjective. I'm not exactly svelte, but I find that my Ferrari fits me like a bespoke suit. I've had far slimmer passengers complain non-stop for the duration of their five mile ride. I've had 300lb friends happily ride along for over an hour.

Speaking for myself, I forego hours at a gym and running laps in favor working. That's how I can afford toys like Ferraris. Is that wise? Only time will tell.

Regardless, I'm sure the Ferrari for you is out there: try them all. Then, buy it and enjoy the hell out of it. You deserve it.
