Okay, have done some searching but no luck. How do you remove the OUTER (wheel side) CV joints from the half shaft on a 355? Inner joints were no problem to remove.

Since I have a workshop manual and nobody else seems willing to help. The WSM describes the replacement of the Wheel bearings but not the CV joint.

    Remove wheel
    Remove brake caliper
    Remove rotor
Undo the nut on the (rotor side) end of the drive shaft.
Compress the spring so it has no tension on the lower control arm
{You MAY have to remove the wheel bearing)
Undo the suspension alignment bolts on the lower control arm
    Count and segregate the shims
Unbolt the inner CV joint from the transmission
This should allow you enough movement of the hub to remove drive shaft.

Thanks for the reply Mitch. I already have the drive shafts off the car and have removed the inner CV joints.

Trying to figure out if the outer joints have some deep down hidden (in all the grease) C-clip (I think that's the right term) or if there is just a snap ring. If it's just a snap ring the joint should come off with a correctly placed hammer blow..... but.... don't want to try that unless I know it's the attachment method!

Just about EVERY outer CV joint I have replace has used the 'internal' snap ring. :D:D

Just give it a few hits with a copper hammer and see what happens. ;);)

Unlimited supply? You need to melt some of those puppies down, sell the result and get a younger brother for your 348 (355 :)
