Unless Shaq sells his LWB Gallardo I doubt I ever will own a true exotic. I know I'll get **** for this but Corvette's have plenty of legroom so they are appealing. On exotic models where you can move the steering wheel it becomes "doable" but for the most part it's physically impossible to even get in. Any convertible makes it a little bit easier with the roof down but still not comfortable due to legroom. I successfully drove my friends S2000 a few miles the other day but I would not want to do it again soon or more than 20 minutes.

Hence, for me, motorcycles are my fix. I may look like a giraffe riding a bicycle but looks aren't everything!

The problem with the "you need to purchase 2 seats" policy is that it is not equally enforced. I know of numerous times where people have flown one way without having to buy a second seat but on the way back they were not required to do so. Further, it is left up to the individual on what is considered someone as too large to fit in a seat. Some lady who is 5 foot nothing, 90 lbs might feel that someone that is 6 ft 2, 250 lbs needs to buy a second seat (happened to a coworker) whereas someone that is 5 ft 10, 200 lbs will feel that the 6 ft 2 person isn't too big to fit in one seat.

I heard that in Canada that they had to do away with the policy because it was not providing equal protection or something like that. Any Canadians in here know anything about this issue, speak up.

It is a medical fact that obesity has some genetic basis. With the people out there that are ridiculing people by labeling them "fat", these people even have a harder time with their self-confidence and will get even larger. They will reject any help because of the stigma of being "fat". Being morbidly obese is something that is being possibly covered under the American With Disabilities Act from what I have heard.

Finally, don't be an @ss and call someone fat. It is rude and uncalled for. I am sure that these people that call others fat have something wrong with them that could be ridiculed also. I know a lot of people that are people of size and most are that way from some medical condition or the other, such as thyroid problems, accidents leaving someone unable to exercise and their family for generations have been large.

I am waiting for the ridicule that I am going to get on here for taking this position, but I don't really give a d@mn about what you all say. I know I am taking the high road here and I know that I am not going to care what others say about my position. This country was founded under free speech and I am exercising it on this topic.

    LOL!

Well I duck a little to go through doors, that's easy...

Driving exotic cars is a bigger issue though. One of the things I HAVE to do when I get my first exotic is remove the seat and its runners and bolt the seat directly to the floor. This helps quite a lot. But I have stupidly huge legs so my next option is to fit a smaller steering wheel and if I'm still uncomfortable fit a spacer on it. Those things really do help.

It does mean I won't be able to buy and drive the classics (<'90s). MAYBE I can fit in an F40 but I doubt it. Cars such as the 512 boxers can only be bought to look at, which I find a bit sad...

Im 6'1" 250 lbs. Im fat. Lets not beat around the bush. I carry it well and rarely does anyone call me fat...but I call myself fat. It reminds me to do something about it.

I have a slow metabolism and most people in my family were overweight...so yeah genetics play a part. But I also eat too many sweets. I feel the constant need to be popping cookies in my mouth. But I CAN control it if I put my mind to it. I CAN work out more. 99% of the fatties are fat because they choose to not put the work in to be of a healthy weight.

It is very rare for anyone to be obese because of a medical problem. Sure, some individuals genetics may make it more difficult to stay in shape but there is no excuse for 99% of the public to weigh twice (or more) of what they should for their height.

Im so tired of excuses for everything. I feel like Im surrounded by a society that spends more time coming up with excuses than doing something about their problems.

Fat people need to eat less and exercise more.

So in the future, I guess airline seats will be sold by the cubic inch?

So how should one refer to fat people if the word fat is suddenly an insult and no longer means what it originally did? It's a bit like the word ***, or gay. Both have lost their original meaning, especially in the US.

You do realize that fat can simply mean obese, not "fat slob", right? Look it up in the dictionary. It's not an automatic insult.

You should be ridiculed, not only because you are wrong about your position but also because you don't understand the meaning of the word fat, have appropriated it for your own purposes, and now want to impose that meaning for everyone. Sorry, you don't control the English language, and fat can and does mean obese, without negative connotations. It can be an insult, but is not necessarily so.

The only one being an @ss is you, changing the debate from airline policy for fat people to incorrectly applied political correctness.

That wouldn't be fair at all. People have different heights, and it does not encroach on anyone else's space. Same for "depth" which would only occupy more space in front of their own bodies. What about the amount of oxygen they consume? Professional athletes should pay more? What about the tinny noise from loud headphones? What about the babies, crying, needing cots, etc. You can't account for everything, so the airlines should only charge for those things that make an egregious difference.

Only thing that encroaches on others' space is their width, and to be charged extra for that when it exceeds a normal range is fair.
