A quite unusual comparison, but its basicly based on the fact that a brand new 270bhp Exige is the same price as a used F355. But the reason for this post is this. This indeed bought a smile to my face Lots of people that know no better read this magazine I had to post it.. [Autocar quote] Make no mistake: even by the lofty standards of there respective makers. The F355 is a better car than not only the 348 it replaced but also the 360 Modena that followed it, an assertion borne out of the fact that late F355s are fetching the same or better money than early 360s. Bet that made you smile to
I can 'Bing' with the best of them but for the life of me I cannot find this article online. Got a link to the article please? If not, can you scan the pages in? I'm sure others are interested as well. Thanks!
Written by Andrew Frankel, who hates the 348 as much as Luca Montezelemo does. And the 355 is from Foskers who in a recent article in the same magazine slagged off the 348 as well. According to them they have all been crashed and are crap. PS. I'd rather have the Lotus than the 355.
Article also says teh Kerb weight of a 355GTb is 1412 kg. Is that correct? I thought it was a lot heavier than that.
Erm, last year there was this one well respected Italian managing director of a certain Italian car company... Anyway, It was the comment about the f360 that made me smile
I am finding it really funny how the 348 owners are so paranoid they think this was an attack on them LOL! Naturally the car that follows should always be better than the last, so whats the deal? The main focus of of why i posted the quote was to point out what was said about the 360. It was not a dig at the 348 guys so get of it, its not always about you You dont hear 355 owners cry like babies when anyone says the 360 is a better car, or 360 owners cry when the same is said about the F430. Maybe i should have censored out the numbers 348 from the quote to spare you from paranoia
Great article, I'd like to see an article comparing 355's to preowned modern 997 Carrera S's, since these cars lie in a similar price range and performance but also arise of different eras. That would be an interesting roadtest to read about. Anybody own both of these cars have comparison opinions about them.
I have owned two 355:s and driven the 997 many times. The cars are so different you might as well test the 355 to a motorcycle or a boat ;-) The 355 is 10-15 years old and you really cant compare the two. The 997 is faster, and safer to drive. It can be driven all year and has a build quality the 355 can only dream of. Two different worlds really, not the kind of decision many people make. The 997 S as a daily driver and the 355 on sunny days and at track days I would never trade my 355 for a 997 S but I would love to have one as my daily driver
