    Oh no! :(

Sorry to hear that Phil. Hopefully Porsche Rescue have gotten you home by now. Did you find out what the problem was?

I think the M6 is a cursed road for breakdowns... my MINI broke down for no apparent reason on the M6 when heading back to Glasgow after picking a wedding venue. I had all the warning lights come on, the engine management went into 'limp mode' and I had to pull over. When the RAC got there, they couldn't find anything wrong with it, cleared the fault codes, and I had it serviced when I got back to Glasgow. The dealer couldn't explain it either, so I've still no idea what happened to it. I got caught up in roadworks too, so a drive that should have taken 7 hours took 13.

I do quite like the look of the original wheels, although I have read someone mentioning they're a little heavy. The 348 isn't short on power so the wheels wouldn't make too big a difference, would they?

I saw an image on here somewhere of a 348 with Testarossa wheels fitted - that looked pretty nice. I think the Testarossa wheels were wider, so they got more tyre contact on the road.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Andrew, continued good luck with your studies, I remember the thesis process all to well.. It shows that you have tenacity to finish your degree so the 348 "fund" I'm sure will be just as deliberate and sucessful. Same offer goes for me, so if you're ever in the Chicago area.... I had never owned a Ferrari before, sat in one at the delaer once... I can tell you it's nothing like seeing it roll off the transport and handing you they keys. Once your heart stops racing and you start to drive, ah... There's nothing like the first time, except everything other time you turn the key and the engine fires up and without noticing it a smile curls your face and that's when your realize that life is pretty darned good. Then you put it in gear and head out and it gets even better! These cars are meant to be driven, fully and enjoyed and at the same time we are stewards of these incredible machines that are equal works of art, performance, and tradition. Can you tell I'm anxiously waiting for Spring to arrive !!!

the show is in a week and ahalf!looks like i get an end row spot. class is import/domestic tuner! WTF weird but okay. so i'll be against subbies,vw gti, toyotas, honda, focus, z24's and the such...oh well it will be funny to see what more "people" look at!

i printed off some specs, made a nice poster board up telling about the car and its evolutin from 328...348ts tb....gts gtb to the spider. and told some ferrari racing stuff with the 348. printed some cool pics...

so we will have fun regardless...but that 750$ would sure be nice

you didn't mention wether the show is being judged by the show promoters or are the cars being judged by the entrants themselves. If it is being judged by "judges" who know cars, then you ought to do well, because the age of the car would be considered. If not, well between the car club friends, those who might think our car IS new, jealousy regarding the "rich guy" and his Ferrari......well you see where I am going. I don't do the shows with any of my cars anymore. Bst of luck, tell us how you did....

the show is judged by custom shop owners, serious enthusiasts, event promoters, etc.

    supposedly guys in the know...

i like the start it up idea...but that reminds me...

they want the battery disconnected. what is the easiest way to do this without causing problems? ive not owned the car long enough to get my hands dirty yet.

I took mine to a local weekend show, where they shut down the entire main drag in town. I had no intention of showing my car, just out for a ride and enjoy the show. When I pulled up in town, I was direced by the police forward. (I assumed to a parking area) I wind up next to the main admission, where they asked me to keep the car up front so everyone might see it.

Is this common for a car show? If so why?

this show is indoors, so it is fire code.

i read something about a "battery disconnect" switch in technical but no answers on the thread

Your Spider should have a battery disconnect switch in the front trunk, under the lid for the fuse panel. It has a round knob marked on/off. They can't expect you to pull a cable off the battery itself, considering where it's located.

    Have fun at the show.

Thanks Steve, and fingers crossed for an early spring for you! :D

I got my first ever ride out in a 348 about a week and a half ago (courtesy of Sy, aka 'angelis') and am going to put some pictures up soon of me looking utterly thrilled sitting in the car! :D It was a little tentative due to the rather wintry conditions, but I was very impressed nonetheless. ;)

Great poster!! Good luck at the show and please take pictures of it on display for us. :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.
