Are there any early (2v) Euro grills available? If not, does anyone have one that I could borrow in order to have a batch made up? If so, what would be a fair price? (Not to make a profit, but to make it a sensible proposition for my fabricator.) Also, were they bare aluminum or painted or anodized? Did they have a horsey or were they unadorned?

    Thanks,

    Lew

I bought one last Summer from Eurospares in the UK. It was reasonably priced, (I think) for about $500.
Im pretty confident they are all bare aluminum.

do a search Lew, someone on F chat already makes and sells them. he used one of mine as a prototype , and i bought one of the first ones he made. they are stunning. i have one mounted to my wall in the house, with a horsie that has been on almost every f car i have had. my grill horse was given to me by a friend who restored old cars years ago , so i have kept it.

    ps .... 9000 posts!!! i need a life .....

Thanks Mike. I found the thread and sent John an e-mail. I am not sure why I couldn't find it when I searched last night.

Lew, I have a '78 GTB and had spoken to John (GREAT guy!!) about his grilles. His are specifically for QV's. They're different from the earlier grilles. Ended up getting my euro grill from ferrparts. Not cheap, but OEM and I'm quite happy with it and Ferrparts were terrific to deal with. Good luck, Les

i have owned good spread of 308s so far, and i would just drill out the pop rivets and move them if you want to use a Qv grill.

i will need to look for side by side pics, but is the early carb car euro grill very different from the Qv euro grill?

if you are adding a euro valance to the car, none of the glass valances have the posts the grill goes to, so i made my own, and they look factory ( i work on aircraft, and have access to small aluminum scraps)

my point is, if you are adding a euro valance, and grill, then you will need to add the posts where they will fit anyway. i dont thin a shallow USA valance will house a wide /tall euro grill anyway.

as for cost, i am not sure what John is selling them for. i got the " good buddy " price as i helped with pics and measurements when he went to make them. :)

    Michael

ps. i need to get off my butt and sell my factory sheetmetal shallow valance that was on the Blue 308 GTB QV i had. its in the freaking way!!! maybe BIGTEX needs one, he seems to bend his cars up alot !!!!

This is what I'm talking about, with the aftermarket euro bumper you can clearly see the cutout of the US QV grill that is made for the US QV bumper. I guess what I'm asking is a euro grill that will fit to the US QV car, are they available and where? Thanks.

My cars use the bent bar grill...

You are right, it doesn't match the Euro bumper very well.

very interesting question. you could use a euro valance, and a QV grill, like the one John sells, since you will have the euro, thinner bumper. but then you will need to add fog lights, as there will be spaces on either side of the grill where the flash to pass lights are on the QV cars.

ps ... anybody need a steel USA valance !!!! :)

That is essentially what I did with my project Mike. Once the "buck teeth" of the US bumper are out of the way, the Euro QV grill would work with the euro fiberglass bumper. The mounting of the fiberglass bumper takes just a little amount of fabrication unless you get some conversion posts.

The main difference between the Euro grills is the room for the passing lights and the number of horizontal bars. The Euro QV grill has 4 horizontal bars (1 shorter upper bar) and room for the passing lights. The 2V grill has only 3 bars and no room for passing lights. Neuman makes a very nice 2V grill.

I was considering making another production run of the Euro QV grills this spring if there was enough interest. I have 2 people interested so far. The best price break from the manufacturer is 5 grills. PM me if interested.
