Ok, so it seems an eternity until Thursday, but I came across some info worth sharing with everyone, especially those who have the opportunity to go to the testing at Circuit de Catalunya. Sounds like FChat needs to take a field trip to Spain this week! Who's in???

    Highlights -http://www.circuitcat.com/RACES/Formula-One-Teams-Test-Days/TICKETS-SALE/_C-m36i6nCePdmfWeeucyqZgSxKyX1s0YTv-3DaeCXB-6jDyBnd16SD1jnZcgD4TYpAaBXuZ2jCQFW9gGhJRWG94YL5BVMBvsol2Nw5x--4_XDF5xTBLyFF6Cv9UIqcUuo6iswqrZjIBHDwubN7yIR3h2AzrJQYUNzE4ej8eFZcM

Tickets for the test days can be purchased from 15th February at the “la Caixa” ServiCaixa terminals, El Corte Inglés and Hipercor department stores and Ticketmaster. Tickets will also be available during the test days at the Circuit de Catalunya box offices.

The ticket price for Thursday and Friday is €10 per day, and €15 per day on the weekend. Under 12 year olds have free entry, as well as the Members and Officials of the Circuit carrying the respective credential cards. All of you having already bought a ticket for the Gran Premio de España Telefónica de Formula One have free entry as well. If you haven’t purchased your ticket yet, remember that you will benefit from a 10% pre-sale discount until 28th February.

You will also be able to visit all those places you are usually not allowed to access: race control, briefing room, podium, media centre, service track tour... There will be three guided tours per day (11.15h, 13.00h and 15.20h) and the tickets can be purchased at the “la Caixa” ServiCaixa terminals, as well as from 25th to 28th February at the box offices of the Circuit. Circuit de Catalunya Members and Officials have a 25% discount and under 6 year olds can take part in the tour for free. Access through Gate 3.

We provide your tickets with an added value!

If you already have your ticket for the 54 Gran Premio de España Telefónica de Formula One (9th May) or your 2010 member card, you will enjoy free entry to the Formula One Teams’ Test Days. If you haven’t yet, do not loose your test days’ ticket! With this ticket, you will get a discount of the amount of the ticket when buying your ticket for the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit. To benefit from this discount, you will have to show the test days’ ticket at any of the open box offices at the Circuit from 25th to 28th February or from 1st March at the Circuit de Catalunya Member and Spectator Service Point (Gate 3, behind the Main Grandstand), Mondays to Thursdays from 9.00 to 14.00h and from 15.00 to 18.00h, and from 09.00 to 14.00h on Fridays.

You will also get the discount at the Circuit box offices on the Grand Prix days.
Moreover, with your ticket for the Gran Premio de España Telefónica de Formula One, you will get a 20% discount when buying a ticket for the FC Barcelona-Málaga CF soccer match on 28th February.

Yeah Friday is shaping up to be quite a day! Really good lineup. I can't believe we're only 2 weeks away from our first Friday practice.

clear skies make for a very welcome test day in comparison to the last few tests

if you go down to the 10:32 mark, there's a great photo of the new wheel nut and fairing that Ferrari is using..

at 9:22 Alonso stopped on the track and hasn't been back out since that time

Thus far, it looks like Merecedes' new aero package is helping. Their final diffuser will not be used until Bahrain.

thanks guys - I first posted let's make this a field trip - the airfare was very reasonable - very last minute thing, at first I was going to go by myself but John's calendar was clear so it went from there.....I thought maybe Andreas would be game to join up in Chicago!! oh well.....perhaps down the road...

did it ever come to light what happened to Alonso? I didn't go back thru all the commentary on autosport.... I hoping that we can get in on one of the three tours the circuit is offering during the day, guess we'll know more tomorrow. Get there at 10:20 so it's a 53 minute train ride to Montmelo from the airport. At least weather.com has taken the rain out of the forecast so I am hoping to get some good photos with my slightly outdated Sony with the re-occuring spot on the photos (looks like a cloud!) Ya'll have a great weekend and if I could figure out how to take photos from my iphone to the internet I'll be ahead of the game. Any suggestions are most greatly appreciated. Bye

Firstly, have a great time. [I too am envious!]

Do you have a flickr (or similar) account? Most of these photo hosting sites now have their own app for uploading batches of (potentially) labeled pictures - Very easy....

Here's one that seems to get pretty good reviews: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/flickit_iphone_flickr_photos.php

An alternative is to email 'em to someone of course - While viewing the thumbnails simply click the little "action" button, select all the pix you want to send and away you go. [You're of course welcome to email 'em to me if you like and I'll post 'em up on here?]

    Have fun, cheers,
    Ian

did it ever come to light what happened to Alonso?

Ferrari reports that Alonso missed most of the morning's running due to an electronic issue
