    Hi.

Today I took off my battery form the 355 to charge it. When i was disconnecting the terminals I realised that the red cable connected to the positive terminal of the battery has a negative sign on it. The other black cable has no sign on it.

The red cable also has another little red cable attached to that terminal by the way...

So, is the red cable the positive cable even if it has a negative sign on it or is it really a negative cable?

What would happen if the cables were switched when connected ? the positive in the negative terminal and viceversa?

Of course there red is the positive and the black is the negative. The cable you described with the little red cable connected to it is the plus.
But can you not remember which way your battery was facing when you disconnect it? Its very simple, Was the battery's stickers face was facing you or away from you. You put it back on that way. Then you make a decision to remove the negative marking from the cable if its in fact live. Were was this negative marking anyway? Was it a sticker on the cable or some thing?

The red cable was on the positive terminal of the battery and the black cable on the negative terminal. The negative mark Im talking about is on the red cable´s metal bracket.(I mean the thing that attaches to the battery) Its not a sticker its part of the casting.

First of all yes i know that the red cable was on the positive terminal, and the black on the negative. I did confirmed this in my post if you read it again.

As regards to why you have a negative embossed on the end of your red cable. Its easy to work out what happened, they are not factory fitted units. Some guy has gone into a shop to buy a new battery connector because his old one has corroded. He finds they only sell the connections with the negative mark on them, because they are out of stock of the plus units. There is nothing different about the connectors apart from the embossed negative or plus. so the guy buys the negative embossed connector because he wants a connector now......simple.
The bellow diagram may help you understand :D:D
