His dad has done a good job bringing Lewis to this point. The road has been long for them. Well done Antony Hamilton i say, and good luck to both he and his son.

most definitely - it's got to be a really tuff line to hold being dad and manager - I'm sure most people couldn't handle that role very well. Kudos Anthony.

I think he did a fantastic job in bringing up Lewis and his brother.
Lewis fortunatly had the talent, luck, and drive to go all the way. His dad put in considerable effort and money, perhaps everything they had.

In Lewis's best interests I think his dad made the proper decision to step aside and let a professional manager squeeze the team for all its worth ;) Look at Kimi and MS as examples.
This does clear an easier path for him to leave Mclaren if "his manager" thinks it best.
I do hope he stays loyal though.

Yup Kudos to Ant annoying as he is in the pit lane sometimes.

He achieved alot for his son and I have no doubt it was very hard work to begin with, respect is due.

    A wise move....

Anthony certainly did a lot for Lewis and was largely responsible for getting him to where he is, but it is time for professional management.

Lewis was touted as being a guy that can earn a billion dollars over his career. IIRC, Schumi is the only other driver to reach that level.

When you're talking a billion, then a few % this way or that way can have a major impact, and professional management is a wise decision.

Seems like they have one of a kind relationship. I hope they will enjoy life as father and son even more in future.

No matter what anyone has said about the guy on here in the past, he definitely did a good job getting Lewis to where he is today. With the amount of money Lewis could possibly make throughout the life of his career and after, going with a professional is a very good idea.

i don't understand how someone can make a comment like this. lewis' dad is responsible for getting lewis into racing, into f1, he negotiated that 3 year 100+ Million deal with Mclaren after Lewis' first year. Now that Lewis is a mega star and it's time to take his image to the next level it seems like the logical progression for his father to step down. Lewis is also only 25 years old, and I remember when I was in my early 20s it was comforting to have my father around to advise me. I must imagine for Lewis it was the same way, especially given his position in life you really can't trust anyone else.

Fathers play a huge role in supporting young racer car driver. Anthony Hamilton did a superb job to put his Lewis in this path but he should have stepped back some time ago though. In F1 and some junior formulae a driver needs professional management.

But who is Lewis' manager....? I heard Flavio was taking back drivers now :)

Translation: I can make more money if Dad backs off and let's someone else do the negotiating and look like they're calling the shots. But, who's kidding who he's still behind the scenes and makes the decisions :)

I heard that Vetel does his own managing (perhaps with Dad in the background).
    Another mistake.

He has been his own manager; not sure if it's a mistake or not but I will say it is refreshing.

I found this part a bit funny:

"I want my dad to know and I want everyone to know that he is always going to be my dad."

So Lewis isn't planning on joining the Father exchange programme then?.
