To my fellow BJJ practitioners - it's time for me to get a new gi. The cheap one I've been using over the past year is faded, torn, and stinky. I was thinking about getting an Atama goldweave - anyone have any experience with them? I've heard Howard were quite good, but read that they have a seam that runs along the spine that hurts when practicing guard or off your back - that scares me. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Nothing wrong w a torn stinky Gi Back when I was training hard in Jiu Jitsu we used to say it was a good work out when you had blood on your Gi
As it's my first, it will always have a special place in my heart, no matter how stinky it is I also look like a giant in it as the gi has shrank from repeated washings! That's really why I need a new one. I am leaning Atama - they look to be well thought of.
Just to let you know, I dropped her a line to chime in on this. She worked on the design for some XTreme martial arts gear that might be right up your alley. Fully articulated joints and none of the seam issues to contend with.
I ended up purchasing a Padilla & Sons BJJ gi. Was going to get the gold weave but it wasn't in my size. I read that their single weave is just as strong and has more of a traditional BJJ cut, which is what I was looking for. If you've never heard of P&S, they are known for top quality gi's at a low cost, similar to HCK. I paid same price as a HCK, about $70 cheaper than the Atama
I know you already bought one, but the Atama gi is really good. Mizuno makes some very nice ones as well.
