Buy a low mileage 430 enjoy it for a while.
Then get a 458 when they fall closer to list.
Your overall experience will be much better.

If you choose to pay 50K for sentimental reasons now
you will be kicking your self later
Slightly used Ferrari's are the biggest bargains around
    why not take advantage

Inference? Who's been coaching you? I can infer by your posts that the stick is bumping all the way against your palate. Reread and understand post 44. Geez, buh-bye.

Very nice. Then, perhaps you won't worry about sending me the $12.3K of extra change that you have strewn about on your closet floor. I'd be happy to take that obligation off our conscience.

It's not an unreasonable request. I have given a lot more, entire cars included. I only give to worthy causes, however. :)

Well I'm not the only one who thought the opinion you were expressing was your own. So, if not your own opinion, then who's were you expressing? Do you often come to message boards expressing someone else's opinion?

Oh, I'm not denying that the front end is problematic - I have issues with it myself, though I reserve final judgement until I see it in person. The question I pose is whether you think Ferrari themselves think they botched it.

In response to post #58, what a sad picture... What is even more sad is when that child dies there will be 2 more born into the same environment.

Lots of sadness in that pic. IIRC, the photographer who took that pic won the Pulitzer prize for it, but also committed suicide a few months later due to depression from the tragic situations he saw that are epitomized by the pic.

Even though it appears to have been used as a retort regarding the kinds of charities that are more worthwhile than car premiums, I don't think that's a pic that should be used frivolously in the typical forum back and forth.

Giving the poster the benefit of the doubt I assume he did not use the pic frivolously but to make a powerful point about where he chooses to send his charity.

360's and 430's were going for $100,000 over list when they first came out and so will the 458 and whatever else come's after, people who have the cash do and alway's will pay that premium just to have the car before their neighbour does.

Ferrari dealer's here make you sign a contract saying you can't sell the car within xxxx amount of time unless it's back to them, oh yeah and you can't export out of the country for xxxx amount of time.

I would shop around to see if I could find a better deal, but if I couldn't, I'd go with it. Considering your son and considering how much fun it is to order a new car EXACTLY the way you want it, it's a no brainer if you have the money. The most that I've been able to accomplish thus far is doing European delivery on a fully-loaded 330i. I picked up the brand new car with my best friend, drove the car to Prague, and had the time of my life. At the time, I had no business buying the car, but I wouldn't take back the experience for ANYTHING. I had no problems being car broke and that won't even be an issue for you. If I had the opportunity to buy my first Ferrari exactly the way that I want AND experience it with my son.... PRICELESS!!! Carpe Diem!!! Enjoy your money. I would if I could. Still, look for a better deal first.

i would advise you to buy a new california- FROM ANOTHER DEALER!

being an established customer from a more honest dealer should get you on a short list for the 458. in the meantime you'll be driving a NEW ferrari convertible without breaking the bank!

ferrari dealers that charge over retail should lose their franchises to individuals that abide by the rule to sell at msrp. there is after all a 16% markup! that will be over $40,000 for the 458 italia!

I just want to add further to the idea of purchasing a previously released (notice I didn't say classic) model such as the 328, 355, or 360.

You can nearly purchase a 328 or 355 outright for the $50K 'premium', which I find ridiculous but that's another discussion, and enjoy some of the best mid-engine, eight-cylinder cars ever produced by Maranello for money that would otherwise be 'thrown away' just to get the car sooner. These models embody the Ferrari tradition and would hold you over until you can buy a 458 at, or near, MSRP. You'd have two excellent Ferrari's as the reward for your patience! You've waited this long, what's a little bit more in the scope of things?

Buy a used exotic until the used 458'***** the market. They will be under MSRP, for sure.

Jump into a used LP560, or a V10 R8, even a LP640. Anything really. You'll be able to try several cars for the amount you'd lose on the premium and the depreciation. Maybe you'll even like one of the others.

BTW, where do you live? If you get it before December, that means you get it in winter. Food for thought.

I am in Texas... my 997 Turbo Cab is top down most of the year...
Ferrari is the only make I want...

California is not a option for me as I have a daily driver convertible, actually I had put deposit for one and then withdrew it after 6 months.
