My wife and I will be visiting Savannah at the end of the month for a few days and just wanted to see if there are any "must see" places to go??? We were already told to eat at a restaurant call S.N.O.B.??? For those of you that have been there how is it? We'll also be visiting some of the homes and normal tourist places but wanted to see if any locals could give us some non-tourist places to go..:)
    Thanks,

    Reg

Isn't SNOB in Charleston? The cities are about 150 miles apart, so it wouldn't be worth it for dinner as there are plenty of good places in Savannah. Hilton Head is much closer if you want to wonder out that way (about 45 minutes) + you get to cross the famous Talmadge bridge.

    Restaurants:
Lady and Sons (Paula Dean's place) is good just plan on a very long wait.
    Uncle Bubba's on whitemarsh island
    Elizabeth's on 37th ($$$$)
Clary's is fun (I'm partial because my family used to own it when it was a pharmacy) and pretty good food too.
The Pirate House is also a good atmosphere and good food.

    Landmarks:
The Lighthouse on Tybee is great exercise and provides a good view from the top. While you're down there, if the weather is warm and the wind is down take a walk on the beach.
    Telfair Museum of Art
    Old Fort Jackson/Fort Pulaski
Take a walk on River Street...hang out for a while maybe one of the big ships will pass by.
While you're there, go check out City Market, Broughton Street, and Bay Street (all within walking distance).
Bonaventure Cemetery is beautiful to walk through.

    Sightseeing:
There are multiple walking tours of the squares downtown.
Some of the haunted tours I've heard are decent, but I've never been a big fan.

    Hope this helps.

Great choice, that's a fantastic hotel, just built last year, right on River Street, so you won't need any transportation whatsoever. Close to it all. Try Rock's on the first floor, good restaurant with outdoor dining.
If you need a tour of the historic city, I can take you in the Mondial for a nice ride, let me knw.

Don't know if you have all your stuff booked for Charleston but shoot me an email if you don't. My wife lived there for years and I can get all the info you want on where to go there.
