I took my 99 355 GTS out for it's first drive since I bought it over the winter. (other than quickly around the block).

I must say it is great fun clicking through the gated shifter and the sound of the engine is excellent. Very quick throttle response, which makes blipping the gas on downshifts fun :)

The car feels quicker than I expected, probably due to the rpm's and gearing. Not the fastest car I've driven but definitely quick enough to be entertaining.

Also, the car rides very nice, much smoother on the road than my previous C6 ZO6.

Overall I'm very happy with the car and am glad I bought it. Looking forward to some warmer weather so I can take the top off.

Only thing I think I may need to change is the exhaust system. (quicksilver supersports). It sounds great at idle and part throttle up to 5-6k rpm but doesn't quite have the bark I expected at wide open throttle. Almost seems like the volume doesn't increase much when the bypass valve opens (and I did verify that it opens).

Jim, I took advantage of the sunshine today too. had the 348 out for a run to the WI border up Rand road. Nice stretch going North and a little room to open it up a little. This is the second time this early Spring and can't wait until the weather actually warms up. Kept the top up but anxious for a warm stretch. Glad you had a chance to get out this weekend and hopefully we'll see you at some of the upcoming events.

AGAIN, WTF! Why does it only seem to rain on the weekends...so cruel.

James - you're gonna love the feel of your car the more you drive it. It's really incredible. When the top comes off it will transform the car. You will be suitably blown away.

I love my Capristo...not sure what stage it is (even after reviewing the previous owner's receipt). Is there a way to tell visually? It doesn't have any bypass valves or fancy remote controls...but it does bark like a scalded dog if you *floor it* from about 4,000 RPM.

Just got back from a drive too... FINALLY!!!!!

Sounds like you need a Cappy or Larini :) There is not much left wanting in a 355 with the top off and the Capristo trumpets echoing off the mountains. Heaven!

Definitely the biggest surprise when I bought my 355, too. It's amazing how smooth the ride is! My BMW 330ci ZHP was much harsher on the road! :)

Congratulations on getting your 355 out. I have had mine for a couple of months now. I was amazing from the start, but it was different enough from any other car I have driven that I am still getting settled in. The more I drive it the more I am blown away. I just wish I would have bought a Ferrari earlier in life. I could not imagine living with out one again.

    Enjoy!
