Check to insure the battery connections are tight and there is no corrosion on the terminals. Have you also confirmed that the battery is indeed charged.

You may have the common voltage drop in the ignition switch. If you don't get full battery voltage to the solenoid when you turn the key, the starter will "click" but it won't engage and turn over the engine, even if the battery and the starter are OK. That's why it is sometimes necessary to add a relay to the starter wiring.

You can do an easy check for this by jumping between the two terminals on the starter, by using a remote starter button or simply touching between them with something like a screwdriver blade. First, be absolutely SURE that the shifter is in neutral, or the car could lurch forward. If the engine will NOT crank over on the key, but it WILL crank over when you jump the terminals, then you need a new ignition switch, or you need to add the relay. I posted a thread on this subject, which is in the archives.

Good luck, and let us know what you find.

If you filled out your profile, maybe we would have a better idea of what year 348 you have and can give you some better insight.

Well I did everything, jumped the starter..still a clicking noise. So then I put a booster cable directly to the starter from the battery, and guess what it started. so i checked the positive cable and noticed the the two bolts from the battery terminal were loose. i
I tighten them . She start right up and purrs like a kitten. Thanks Miltonian.
