At the factory and in the town, it is pronounced mod n uh Strangely enough, when we were ther while the 360 was under production, it was referred to by everyone as a 3 6 0 - three six zero, not a 360 - three sixty
Never heard the rear combined and I have been there many times. As for the front, the "MOH" vs "mod" could be a lingual thing.... Being from Texas and knowing the o sound is always an emphasised letter that sounds like "o" and not "aw" has always perplexed me, but I have heard more "mod" than "MOD" from locals And then again, it could be my ignorant ear
The 360 Mod-nuh was made in Mare-ah-nello, and tested at Fee-uh-ron-o. The Mercy-el-ah-go was built in San tah-gata Ball-og-nay-zay, near Bo-lown-ya. .
This question gets asked so frequently and I hear it pronounced wrong so many times by people on TV or the general public, someone should just post some Modenese locals saying their town's name on Youtube as the definitive answer.
Strange, when I was in Maranello about 7 years ago it was referred to as the 3-60 by the people I heard talking about it. Only the Brits seem to pronounce numbers oddly. Everyone I know says 3-60. As for Modena, the Italian travel guide we had said Moh-da-na.
I'm always somewhat surprised by how people refer to/pronounce the model numbers of their cars, and the inconsistencies in how it's all done: PORSCHE EXAMPLES 356 (usually pronounced three-fifty-six, not three-five-six) 911 (usually pronounced nine-eleven, not nine-one-one) 912 (usually pronounced nine-twelve, not nine-one-two) 944 (usually pronounced nine-forty-four, not nine-four-four) 928 (usually pronounced nine-twenty-eight, not nine-two-eight) 968 (usually pronounced nine-sixty-eight, not nine-six-eight) 917 (usually pronounced nine-seventeen, not nine-one-seven) So.......if that's the history of Porsche reference/pronunciation, why do some people now say: 993 (I still pronounce it nine-ninety-three, but frequently hear nine-nine-three) 996 (I still pronounce it nine-ninety-six, but frequently hear nine-nine-six) 997 (I still pronounce it nine-ninety-seven, but frequently hear nine-nine-seven) FERRARI EXAMPLES 328 (usually pronounced three-twenty-eight, not three-two-eight) 330 (usually pronounced three-thirty, not three-three-oh) 348 (usually pronounced three-forty-eight, not three-four-eight) 512 (usually pronounced five-twelve, not five-one-two) 550 (usually pronounced five-fifty, not five-five-oh) So.......if that's the history of Ferrari reference/pronunciation, why do some people now say: 360 (I pronounce it three-sixty, but sometimes hear three-six-oh) 599 (I pronounce it five-ninety-nine, but sometimes hear five-nine-nine) 612 (I pronounce it six-twelve, but sometimes hear six-one-two) What's going on? Are new generation owners unfamiliar with the traditional pronunciations? Any ideas? P.S. By the way, "Porsche" is a two-syllable word.
The only "Italian" I learned from my family... but they spoke volumes! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Moe-deen-Ahh But you have to hear it yourself, since it's hard to put pronunciations to writing. Ferrari is not pronounced "Fur-rahr-ree" like most Americans pronounce it. Italians say it as "Feh-rrah-rhee.
Pretty much agree. Take a look here: http://www.howjsay.com/index.php?word=modena Scroll over modena to repeat, as needed.
If you say it like that in Italy you will be shot. That's how rappers who don't know any better say it....
Hello Ryan, I read your reply addressed to me and I am wondering....do you speak Italian?? I am asking this because I do and I am from a small town in central Italy as well. Maybe I've been lucky so far because I have been to Italy many times and I haven't been shot yet for the way I speak Italian. As I said in my reply, I feel that it is difficult to put the pronunciation of a word into writing, so maybe I shouldn't have tried in the first place and left it up to an expert like you. Tx246 does explain it best by saying "Mod-n-uh phonetically. Ryan read yor post to me over again and you might see how stupid it sounds.
