    This sounds incredible

But in the desert Kingdom of Bahrain nothing is left to chance. To make sure the race is truly unforgettable, the organisers, led by the Crown Prince of Bahrain Shaikh Salman, have invited every living world champion to attend. Amazingly nearly all of them have accepted and will parade their championship-winning cars around the circuit to celebrate 60 years of Formula One racing.

The list of invitees reads like the motorsport hall of fame: Mika Hakkinen, Jacques Villeneuve, Damon Hill, Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, Niki Lauda, Keke Rosberg, Alan Jones, Jody Scheckter, Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jackie Stewart, John Surtees and Jack Brabham. Of course, there are four world champions taking part in the Bahrain Grand Prix itself, with Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher all ready for battle.

Putting together such an event is no easy task. We're talking about asking F1 champions, with F1 champion-sized egos. to line up alongside each other as equals. But Shaikh Salman, the man who brought F1 to the Middle East in 2004, says that once the drivers heard about the idea they were very willing to take part.

Two key phrases; nearly all responded & F1 sized egos. Hence, no Piquet
not sure what Kimi is doing
Guess I should rename this thread....

Your knowledge of motorsport is sadly lacking!!

First, it's not Sterling Moss, but SIR STIRLING MOSS to you! He was knighted.

Second, everybody knows that he never was WDC.

There are a couple of those blokes that probably can't fit in their old cars anymore.

Kimi is too busy crashing out of races and generally sucking in WRC to have time for F1.

If you were dating Jessica Alba, she dumps you, and you have Roseanne Barr as your rebound chick, would you really want to go to a party at Jessicas house and be reminded of what you had then, and what you have now?

    Probably not.

Your knowledge of Knighthoods is sadly lacking!!!
I dont hear you pissing on about Damion Hill OBE, Nigel Mansell OBE, Jackie Stewart OBE, John Surtees OBE and Jack Brabham OBE, not being called "Sir".
So i will call Stirling Moss......Sterling Moss, and spell it how i like :)

There is nobody called DamIon Hill. Damon Hill is an OBE.
    Nigel Mansell is an OBE.
Jackie Stewart is an OBE, but is also a knight so he is usually called Sir Jackie Stewart.
    John Surtees is an OBE.
Jack Brabham is an OBE, but is also a knight so he is usually called Sir Jack Brabham.

An OBE is not the same as a knighthood. You are called Sir if you have been knighted.

Sir Stirling Moss is commonly known as the best driver to have never won the world championship.

Personally I think it's a GREAT idea that this event is taking place and is a great reminder of the history of our great sport as it enters it's 60th year.

How fitting that Ferrari is there as they were at the beginning...the only survivor from those early years. Somewhere Enzo has to be intensely proud of that fact...
