With such a quality prep and re-paint, are you really being authentic to the quality of job that the Scudreria threw on originally? ;)

With all due respect to Enzo, Luigi, Mario and the other old guys in the race shop, I think you are putting more heart into the project and will come up with an authentic, but better than original example. Thanks for using your resources for these projects that you take on, and even more so, thank you for sharing the experience with all of us other dreamers of lesser resources.

Well Enzo apparently attended for it to run a few races on a track, succesfully, than have it thrown away like yesterdays' newspaper. I am sure that Jim will use it for a lot more km's than anyone who built it ever dreamed of it covering. ;) Thank the stars for guys like Jim and the rest of you who have kept these cars going for far longer than their maker intended.

Even the New Guys there told me I shouldn't have used parts taken from their trash bin to Resurrect 0846.

(Even though they took cash to recast uprights that enabled me to)

Jim, bless you for this great thread, which I have just re-read in its entirety. You have given us a real glimpse into how these beasts were constructed; crude in some areas but beautiful in all areas. We are all (if I maybe so presumptuous) grateful that this piece of history is in your capable hands. I chuckled a bit when you talked about carbs v. injection, as 002, when it was with me, had injection. The starting routine was one guy to hold up the hood, one guy to squirt starter fluid in the horns, and one guy to turn the key. Even on full rich, I was never able to start it with less than the required three. Then one had to let it idle for half an hour before the throttle could be opened without killing the fire. Bill Schworer later converted it to carbs for this reason. Keep up the good work, and keep postin'.

Hard to find a 208 even in Italy. They were built to avoid the higher takes on the larger displacement 308/328 cars. The 208 was my first choice when I was looking for a car to buy in Italy. Found one but the owner said he wanted to be buried in it.He did let me drive it though. It was a turbo and if you didn't shift down and engage the turbo before entering the corner things got pretty exciting when it did kik in. Cruising mpg better than the 328 but with the turbo just as thursty. just one man's opinion tongascrew

Hi, keep the stories coming. How about some pictures of the 'slaves" at work I am sure you treat them like princes and it would be fun to see them preforming their magic. just one man's opinion tongascrew

    Hi

Yes that is P3 0846 at the 1966 Targa Florio before Ferrari converted her to P 3/4 0846 in December 66.

Bandini flipped her in that race which twisted the chassis about 1 inch out of square.

The suspention can make up that difference but you can still see the chassis damage.

    Best

So it is some "Blessures de Guerre" in French! ;)
That does the charm of the car!
Congratulations, it is so beautiful, with a well-balanced design, and, I'm sure, a fantastic motor!
If you want I have other photos, the book is on my deck :)

Dear Mr.Napolis, I think you are proud but a little noised for all the compliments from Ferrari Chatter's (included me!).I just noised you with my entusiastic words of appreciation...but which is the reason for the mesh, grille (I'm not able to find the rigth word,I beg your pardon I'm Italian!) on the rear holes of P3/4?
I ever had see the classic crossed net...
    Thanks!

Not sure why 0854 and other cars used this grill and P 3/4 0846 didn't.
