The Lunch Commute returns! The "Strade di Primavera" 2010 edition will run April 10, southwest of Fort Worth into the edge of the Hill Country. Those who participated a while back will recognize some elements, but the route has been tweaked to add even more twisties and elevation changes. This event is open to all FCA members and their invited guests. Please contact Don Rose @ [email protected] for more details or send me a PM. Thanks! List so far: ====== 512M 328 GTS We will be starting in the Benbrook (where the heck is that??) area, so plan accordingly. I hate that we have to start so far out on the edges, but in the fall we will likely start in the northeast corner.
To all FCA members your invitation went out this morning. Please arrange your calendars for this event-it will be a great run and a lot of fun
Oh goodie for you guys, from the look of those photos I think I know the roads you are going to be traveling on.
yes, required for insurance and it is being organized by FCA. wasn't fair to FCA or people that did pay their dues when having open events. in the past it was hard to justify the membership, but Don has a full slate of FCA events planned this year and club just announced a "bucks back" program... http://www.ferrariclubofamerica.org/benefits.cfm

Finally something down towards our neck of the woods in the beautiful country side away from the big city and we won't be able to make it. Will be at Paul Ricard in France for the first LMS race of the season. The photos look very similar to some of the roads we used in a rally we did starting in Glen Rose and much like the MB rally we did to the Dr Pepper plant a few months back. Carol
I previewed the route yesterday for Tillman. This may be DFW's best rally ever! Here's a quick video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54OSVzwXk5s

I want to go, but you'll have to list me as a provisional. We have a baby due the second half of April and my car is still in the shop. So...if I don't have a new offspring arrive and I actually have my car back, I will attend. The video looks great, too!!
Ok, due to limited response from the club members this is now open to other interested parties. We have space for about 35-40 folks at the destination restaurant. PM me if you're interested, or post here. The starting point will be sent via email or PM closer to the day of the event. As always, remember that this is a lunch commute and not a race. Getting to the end early just means you get to sit outside a closed restaurant
I guess we're back to not needing a FCA membership in DFW, unless you just like the magazines and newsletters. I don't understand how anyone with a Ferrari wouldn't also have a FCA membership, Cavallino subscription, Forza subscription, FChat subscription , but it is a choice I know and most choose not to.
Rob I could not agree more wholeheartedly! But what confounds me more is the number of people that are members that never attend any of the events that the club organizes. The membership of this club is wide spread and ranges from Amarillo to Tyler. I can understand why those people can't show up because of the distance. But what about the other members-the vast majority-that live in Ft. Worth, Colleyville, McKinney, Frisco, Plano, N. Dallas, Highland and Univ. Park? There is a core group in this club and everyone of them signed up for the run. Rob as you stated in an earlier post "this might be the best run ever in this area" and a video to go with the post. This run has elevation changes, tight turns great roads everything a Ferrari owner could want in a run. I guess Richard Griot said it best "Have fun in your garage"!
Yes, it is a choice. And in my case, a choice that was difficult to make. I was an FCA member, I still hold my Cavallino subscription, never been a Forza subscriber, and I think my FChat subscription is still current... not sure. The financial times, ie: the economy, have taken a toll on many people in many industries. This forces people to make decisions, difficult decisions. Some industries are more bulletproof than others, but nonetheless, I believe the lack of response to this run is nothing more than a product of the economic landscape. Personally, my 308 and my airplane have both been hangar/garage queens for the better part of two years. So, if you think about it, it's really not that hard to understand. BTW: The FCA membership is way overpriced for what you get. The AOPA membership has much greater value and, as such, I am still a member. Tim
I am an FCA member but do not have access to my car in this area. Tanya and I will be coming in my BMW 525i. Add us to the list Tillman.
