These seem to become un-glued from the cap. Has anyone ever tried to re-glue them back on? If so, what adhesive works best? Seems a huge waste of money to pay $700 for the dealer cap or even $300 for the Ricambi cap. thanks, Mike
$300 for a gas cap ???? How about just cutting a piece of thick rubber (home depot has some think stuff) big enough for it to stay in there by force of friction along the edge?
I would try some Loctite 406 superglue. Its the one that "bonds difficult materials". We use it at work all the time to glue rubber etc..etc. Get yourself some Loctite Primer also to clean the area properly, then glue it with some 406. It will work, trust me Mike!
...and, of course, re-use the original seal. It's made of a material that will not be disolved by petrol and petrol fumes.
OEM for <$100.00. Isn't this always the case. Cheap alternatives pop up after I've been railroaded by the dealer into buying a new one. Oh well, maybe I'll wait this this one auction is done and try and sell my used one (repaired) for $100.
Lol! Nah mate, Pappy has been REALLY busy working. Ya see, we are allowed to work extra shifts now, so I have been doing them like mad. Clocked up an extra 100 hrs so far over the course of a few weeks. I will do them while I can, because they wont let us do them forever. Aye.
Those are NOT oem...read the very carefully worded description...no where does it say oem, or factory...just "ferrari parts". I bought one of those from george evans, the seller, as a display piece, they are well made, but not oem. I am sure they will probably work just fine, in fact I know some 308, 328 and 348 owners that use them. George is a straight up guy and good ebay seller.
I've got no horse in this race. We stopped selling a similar cap because : 1) it was a copyright violation 2) the rubber gasket deteriorated AND got sucked off the cap and into the filler neck on some models. There are probably very good "non logo caps" at International Auto, which are more focused on being quality fuel caps instead of logo souvenirs. For the earlier cars, it's probably ok to use one of those silver ones. On later cars (348 and newer) I would recommend OEM. .

For info I've checked the price for the OEM part (180320) at the nearest Ferrari dealer here in bottom right hand corner in France and it is similar to Daniel's price. As JOW02 points out, the cap is shown as £63.40 on Eurospares' site (= $97). So, if Eurospares can do it and you want OEM, looks good.
Thanks for the correction, Dave. I didn't read the listing carefully enough. If the gasket is deteriorating, as Daniel pointed-out, then why bother? Too often the old adage "Penny wise and pound foolish", applies to the purchase of Ferrari parts.
First fill up after my new cap was installed. I did get a lot of hissing and pressure relief while unscrewing the cap. I never got this with my old cap, with the loose rubber seal, so apparently it did need replacing. Then again, I don't know how critical it is to have a fuel tank sealed air tight, other that the few fumes that might escape into the atmoshpere. Don't think this would affect my stellar mileage
