I just acquired a 348 with the (ultra?) rare "Space Invaders" option. I don't know a great deal about these cars, but I've always been told to buy the scarcest that I can afford. As I understand it from the guy I bought it from, the "Space Invaders" option came with custom badging (picture), and since in 1989 carbon fiber was not available due to the Grenada Invasion, many of the parts were replaced with something he called "unobtanium". I'm not sure which parts these were, but perhaps some contributor to this forum can fill me in. Also, are there any others here who have cars with this option? I might add that I did pay a premium for it. I'm wondering how much a good example is worth? Anybody got an owners' manual for it? Any info would be helpful.

There is a reason they are rare. One tiny rock hits it and it just explodes!

Wow! I thought I was the only one that had the Space Invaders edition. You see kids, Enzo was a closet fan of Space Invaders, and as part of his legacy, insisted a handful of cars after his death bear the logo for his favorite game.

Bruce, I don't know which one is rarer - the green edition or the white edition.

I was told my 456 was the only one with this option, and that it was worth a lot of money. Like you, I paid a helluva premium for it. Did yours come with documentation? I have some, but not all of it. Any other owners?

    Wow!

And here I thought I was alone?

As for rare. I think the white one is more rare, because that one was only available on cars that had V12's. From what I understand the V8 cars got the green version.

I'll have to see if I can dig up a picture of mine.

Unobtainium isn't an element, it's a series on the periodic fable:
    strongium, lightium, cheapium, ... ;)

Just steer clear of the "not rare enough"-earth element: administratium. :p

(Do you get the Intel four tone theme when you start the ECU? :D)

Ok ... I'll play the straight guy on this one. I fully understand the Space Invaders
imagery - played it a zillion times in the early 80s as a late teen/early 20s. And played
it "retro style" in January 2010 in the game room on Mariner of the Seas cruise ship,
for nostalgia (along with Pac Man - another old fave of ours).

But what am I missing? Flog me if I'm not getting the joke.... please :) Talk to
me like I'm 9 years old, please.... what is this thread about??? :D :D

What I'm not sure of is if this "space invaders option" is real decals that somone has put on their car and we're making fun of it. Or a total joke.....

Jet-X and Plugzit have the decals on their cars 1. for fun and 2. (the real reason) to get under the skin of the Ferrari purists/elitist out there.

*in my best Jeff Foxworthy you might be a redneck voice*
If you see a Ferrari with a video game decal on it and it pisses you off, you might be a Ferrari purists/elitist.

    Hope that clears things up.
    Jeff :)

Panama, Grenada....it's all a fog. Heck, I totally skipped the 60's.
It's gotta be worth at least a bazillion dollars! Maybe I'll put it in the Barrett-Jackson!

Yeah, if a Testarossa can get well past the $100k at Barrett Jackson, our cars should soar past the seven figure mark.
