I have a 95 Euro 355. Right now, there are no primary cats in the car. I have a tubi exhuast and Tubi headers. Ive been thinking of installing the secondary cat bi pass y-pipe.

What are benefits/negatives of doing so? Will I notice any sound difference?

Couldnt find too much info on the forum, unless i wasnt doing a good job seaching lol

John, I just gutted my secondary cats, welded them shut and had them ceramic coated. It's a good thing to do to get heat out...but with no primary cats you're in good shape already.

Call fabspeed and ask for Jeremy or Jay. They will give you the facts with stats to prove it from their dyno. You can't go wrong with Fabspeed

Either get your OEM pipe gutted or get the Fabspeed Y-pipe.

Benefits are reduced heat and fire hazard. Also a slight weight reduction from 11.5 lbs. to 5.5 lbs with the Fabspeed. One or both of the elements in the OEM Y-pipe often break loose, rattle and probably no longer function 100% anyway. I think a new OEM Y-pipe goes for about 4 Grand!

Increased emissions are the only negative aspect I can think of. Since "we" typically don't drive these cars that much I don't get too concerned about that.

With an operating exhaust by-pass valve the Y-pipe doesn't come into play until higher rpms so these missing cats. will probably not be "noticed" during a smog check.

I can't recall if there was an increase/change in sound. I doubt if horsepower is affected to a measurable extent.
