    I always appreciate DIY creative solutions, so from that perspective nice work!!!

    as for the spare...I've bid on some on Ebay, I'd like to have the original OEM just to have the factory supplied option. But from a realistic standpoint...only once in my 22 yrs of driving did I get a surprise flat and need a spare (which I didn't have...got the tire fixed 300 mi from home at a shop luckily). I just carry a cell phone everywhere, in the very rare event that I do get a flat I'd just call someone. If I do end up with an OEM spare I wouldn't even carry it in the car to save the space and weight, I'd keep it in the garage next to the tool kit and car cover :D
