http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/03/26/formula-ace-car-impounded-reckless-driving/ Welcome to Australia, Mate!
Dam shame it was only a fishtail coming out of a corner, like most have done who are reading this. He was just spotted by the police, no biggie really. But were was he arrested??? Wont do his image any harm (or F1 either) because theres alot of hate for this guy already. The famous Bentley boys never got there reputations by behaving themselves He is not the only F1 driver to cross the law and will not be the last, i like personalities in F1.
I just wish he hadn't apologised. I remember the stories about Gilles Villeneuve driving from Monaco to Maranello in a 328, although I doubt the Italian Police would have impounded Gilles' car if they had caught him! Sounds like the Australian cop just wanted to make a name for himself. I can understand why many F1 drivers are driven on the roads rather than driving themselves these days.
Main Entry: arrest u-!rest Pronunciation: \ ə-ˈrest \ Function: transitive verb Etymology: Middle English aresten, from Anglo-French arester to stop, arrest, from Vulgar Latin *arrestare, from Latin ad- + restare to remain - More at - rest Date: 14th century Results 1 a. 1 ato bring to a stop - sickness ∼ed his activitiesb. bcheck slowc. cto make inactive - an ∼ed tumor 2. 2seize capturespecificallyto take or keep in custody by authority of law 3. 3to catch suddenly and engagingly - ∼ attention I meant stopped. Not taken to the police station. Sorry. He will have to appear in the next twelve months. LOL How much intelligence does it take to do a doughnut in front of a police car???
Do you not know how to read? First you used the word arrest, when he wasn't arrested. Now you are claiming he did donuts in front of the police car. The article says he merely turned on to the street with his tires smoking. Maybe you shouldn't be questioning othere people's intelligence?
I have also heard that tail. Has anyone got a link to that story, or is it an urban legend? Does anyone know any details?
I heard the story of the French cop that pulled the speeder to the side of the road, walked up to the window and said, "Who do you think you are, Alain Prost?" And it was.
More likely the cop wasn't an F1 fan and had no idea who Lewis was at first and didn't care once he found out. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and peels out like a duck... it's a hoonboy in a flash Merc.
Click on the audio interview with the police representative. Intentional loss of traction......how civilized. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8589435.stm
what an idiot - something you'd expect out of a juvenile teenage driver - perhaps dad should have stayed as manager - nice role model - I'm sorry and won't do it again ......until next time. Carol
It was in his two valve 308 if I remember right. Some guys from a magazine tried to beat his record time driving an Enzo, but quit trying when they saw that they were well over one hour behind Guille's time!!!
Come on...Really? Yes the fact was that a police man van was behind him which he should have checked for, but do you NEVER have ANY fun whatsoever on the roads? No speeding, no hanging the tail out a little? As long as there's no one around to hurt I ALWAYS have a little bit of fun. If I can't even have a little fun that way I'd best move to an uninhabited island and snort coke all day long. Dopamine is what keeps us alive...
