Given that, and that he already had pole and wasn't going to better his time (what would have been the point anyway?), why did Vettel not back off and pit from his final lap? Instead, he pushed hard on his last lap for nothing, put additional wear on his tires, and then had an extra in lap on top of that. It didn't make any sense to me.
so Vettel with pole again but probably with tires that won't last long - so another race with a spark plug issue?? Alonso will make his move at the start and split those two Red Bulls and when Vettel has to pit early for worn tires, Alonso will fly into first....Massa needs to get past Button and hold the McLaren back while Rosberg and Schumi will go long distances with hardly worn tires....Lewis might just want to take a holiday Carol
When Vettel asked about his comment, "we will show them" he didn't quite know how to answer the question! As I recall 8 are on softs and the MB on hards.....perhaps this race won't be as boring as Bore-rain. Carol
I keep hoping Schumi put Nico in his place, but I am quite surprised at how he's holding his own. Which is great for Nico, but I do hope Schumi is top 5. I think the season will actually pan out to be really exciting. Bahrain is a pretty bland track with or with out the new rules, and the additional corners were unnecessary. They didn't add anything flare or tactical advantage. Also, with no decent weather testing in europe preseason, I feel like Bahrain was a bonus testing session for the big 4.
Rain sounds like it's imminent, so they'll be changing to inters or wets anyway. He just wanted to keep Webber behind him. It'll be interesting to see how rain + heavy cars affect the race. McHam will get points, but it looks like Jensen will get the headlines this race...of course, with rain who knows what the hell will happen. Looking forward to a good race tomorrow.
You have to start on the tires you set your fastest lap on, if you went into Q3. I think he used a new set again. I too would have said he should have gone in the pit but as it looks like it's going to rain tomorrow, this time it won't really matter.
I'll say. I know her ladyship will start barking for walkies at 6:00 am (1.5 hours time) and it'll be all I can do to throw on a coat and go out into the cold. Eeesh . Tomorrow it is.
Rain possible with Vettel, FA, and Schu close together......the rainmasters. I can't wait. Webber's car will be wider than ever.
good morning Isobel - how was her ladyship this morning?? Dave, I think you are correct. It could be a wet race too...if it's raining they can start the race on wets; if it's a safety car start it has to be full wets Carol
Anyone else frustrated with Schuey's qualifying? He looked incredibly good during the practice sessions. Still, he managed to break 1.25 which is plenty respectable and I have a feeling he and Nico are getting everything they can out of that car. Both Red Bull cars are just staggering. Hope he holds a consistent race pace.
Whenever any driver starts looking for excuses/reasons its not a good sign. Rain, nature's way of saying F1 is getting too boring
Alonso beats Massa. Schumacher remains 3rd fastest of the German drivers. Hahaha. All I need to know.
And Hami on fresh tires. Speaking of Hami, thank goodness he didnt say "we will show them" or we'd be on page 20 of the 5th thread here at Fchat slamming him. MSC is sneaking up on Rosberg. Next race he will be his equal. Good for the "old man" and good for NR.
