I know the cars fall in the '95 and '96 - '99 year categories. I'm looking for a 6 spd and want to find opinions on either group; recommendations, etc.? Most likely I'll be doing a lot of the service work myself if that matters. Thanks!
95 Only. Anyone who says that 98s and 99s are immune to valve guide issues is misleading you. By a sorted 95 with new headers and good compression and leak down and drive!
I mean, if you're going to get a 6-speed, then it pays to get a 1995. They're cheaper, and the 2.7 Motronic is just a better system on that car than the 5.2. You mention that you are going to do some work on it yourself. Whether it's you or someone else, taking the heads off and having them fitted with new valve guides is not a huge deal. You can have that done for peace of mind and you'll have the zippiest 355 around.
do the 95...more power and you dont have to hook up to a computer to pass inspection....at least in north carolina anyway.
Mine is a 1995 355 and it has daul airbags. I have a friend that also has a 1995 that was delivered at the same time at the same dealer and it hasnt got airbags. The VIN on the steering housing has a UK country code and the car an Australian VIN nimber. Work that one out. I was told that it might have been built to UK specs then sent to Australia instead.

Cardigon Some input on your ad. When I was looking at your car (I am no longer looking), the low quality, out of focus pictures really did not help to sell your car. The impression of a buyer is ... if YOU don't care enough to take really good sharp pictures of your car, then I don't care enough to even look at your car. just some input. take it or not take it, your choice.
Yelcab thanks for the advice. I can't work a digital camera to save my life. When it comes to photography I can not take a picture at all as seen in my add. I can try but it always comes out with bad lighting or blurry or something. It seems like it should be so simple but when you're doing closeups and angles and such it's just almost impossible for me to get pictures that people like.
I don't know what digital camera you have but most cameras will allow you to have some settings. At the very least, turn on the flash, it will compensate for the slow speed (which I think is what your pictures are suffering from)
