Hmmm, I know I have to learn all this stuff also.....
I thought about that myself. Maybe we can have Steve, or one of the guys that show up, take pictures and post them as we are working. Sort of a "live" play by play of the tear down.
Gents, There is a 50% chance I could fly out there on the 9th last minute. Post how far you guys get and whether you get stalled in assembly by no parts. How are you guys getting back from Vegas? EB driving together with tools and parts?
I promise, there will be PLENTY of pics, and i'll post them constantly throughout the process. Anything I can give back to the Brotherhood, I will absolutely do!
If you are tight on time, feel free to email me the pictures and I can post them here for you. [email protected]
3 hours??? that would be GREAT! But i'm realistically figuring more like 5 or 6 with the help I have. Gonna take my time and do this very carefully. I hope you'll find some time to come by while E&B are here!
Progress Report: In 2.5 hours, we made it to step 18 in Ernie's gearbox removal tutorial before calling it a night. Altho I did do a couple steps in different order, and I figured out a way to skip the step of dismantling the E-brake system. Other than that, I followed it to a T! All that is really left to do is remove the pumpkin and the gearbox mounting bolts and pull it out. The CV joint bolts were a BIOTCH to get off, those babies were TIGHT!!! We will have this done in one more day at it, but its supposed to rain here tomorrow, so we might have to wait till Thursday. Took a ton of pics, will take more on day 2, then i'll start a new thread and post them all.
That's been the M.O. so far, we scope out each step before we grab for tools, plan an attack, and then execute. All the hardware for each part is put in a ziplock bag and labeled. So far, the hardest things were the CV joint bolts, and the sway bar. Everything else went pretty smooth and easy... its more time consuming than difficult. I spoke with Ernie on the phone, and he predicted 4 hours to do this, so far it looks like that's about right! So far, no rain yet today, so i'm really hoping to finish this up tonight!
