you're being ridiculous. they'd have stopped, booked and impounded anyone who did it. there was a famous fatality the same day a stone's throw away. that he did it at all was idiotic. i'm sure the reason he felt so bad about it was because he knew he was in deep doodoos with mclaren and vodafone.
Exactamondo - no brains, career prat. I suspect M-B aren't too pleased either - wonder if they really do have to wait 48 hours to get their car back?
Those who use the 'Hamilton should be let off or allowed to do burn outs because hes a professional race driver' argument should consider the case of Aussie racer Troy Critchley. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/world/aussie-race-ace-on-homicide-charge/story-e6frev00-1111115852562 so burn outs on the street are always perfectly safe....
and why does quarter mile time have anything to do with burn outs?? also Hamilton was driving a C63 AMG, no slouch of a car....
It's not the police's job to "interpret" the law, that the role of the judiciary, even though in practice many officers use some discression. But the reports state this was a case where there had been a fatal accident earlier that day, and it's in close proximity to the F1 track so the coppers are going to be sensitive to any illegal behaviour. And until the police apprehend the driver, they don't know if its a F1 world champion or a car thief high on drugs.... They were correct to charge him, Hamilton showed extremely poor judgement in his behavior, the punishment will no doubt reflect fact that he is an F1 driver ( deep pockets ) and is seen as role model by many. At least the Vic Police are consistent. How many times do we read someone of 'social stance' has been let off lightly whilst the grunts of society cop a flogging for the same thing? Now it's the opposite where he cops it just like the rest of us and people get upset?
Had plenty of laughs from this incident. Webber chiming in about the "nanny state" and "reading an instruction manual after getting out of bed" is the icing on the cake.
The pizza guy was killed by someone running a red light from what I understand. Nothing to do with a little wheelspin. That death was a separate tragety, partly due to the vulnerability of bike riders. The police and authorities use this sort of tragety to justify all their rules and regulations. Notice how speed limits are reducing, and traffic congestion is increasing. I suppose that the police officer can't blindly ignore the incident. He could have given hamilton a warning instead of the big show that was put on.
7.7 million square kilometres of land mass. 2.66 people per sqaure kilometre 7 million square kilometres of un-populated land to do burnouts in and he chooses to do it in the suburbs. If a burnout happens in the forest and no bogans are there to see it, did it happen?
Then we are back to the 18 year old in his VL - warning for him too?? The Critchly thing shows that even the best (and Critchly was one of the best at it) can have things go horribly wrong.. Cops did the right thing.. Also brilliant watching Hamilton try and sink through the floor of the car...
I just got a renewal notice from VicRoads for my drivers licence. As a good driver with no demerit points for a period exceeding 3 years I get a 25% discount on my renewal fee. Its now $119 for 10 years. It's not often you get something back from the government so I must give credit where its due.
Yep, I can confirm its $119 for 10 years, I have it sitting in front of me. Date of expiry after renewal 13/05/20 Hopefully my 308 is back by then. Just to get in first.
