I just confirmed Monarch is still in. They'll arrive tomorrow about noon, probably in the Cessna 400. So all the rooms I had blocked are full. If anyone else needs a room I bet you can still get one, just call directly.

As much as I have continued until the last minute to try to make it this weekend, it's just not going to happen.
    Have a beer for me.

Having a great time. Flew the T182T in yesterday, sausage & beers at Aslander downtown, Jim joined us from Monarch after flying the Cessna 400 in, and then we toured the Nimitz. Later met up with Tillman & Ashley at the Officers club and then all of us had dinner at August Ease before going back and closing down the Officers club.

Just had breakfast at the dinner. I'm going up with Jim in the 400 and then Jim, Tillman, Ashley, and I taking the 400 to San Marcus for the warbird stuff.

Please please if you are coming in tonight for dinner text me at and let me know how many. I will just set a reservation for who is here plus who texts me. Tentative plans are Cabernet Grill (formerly Cotton Gin) 8-ish.

Already confirmed they'll put the F1 race on in the Officers Club.

San Marcus CAF fly-in was better than expected. Flying B-25, Texans, Stermans, Bird Dogs, T-34's, and then all the GA aircraft. The 2008 Cessna 400 Monarch brought got more than its fair share of attention. Also cool the Cobra club showed up for an aerial shot on the paddock, over 60 of them! Nothing like warbirds and cars.

Today was breakfast in the Airport Diner and watching planes for a while. Nice selection of older tailwheel craft and the newest LSA and hotrod planes.

Jim asked if I wanted to go up in the 400 and the answer was naturally yes. I -really- enjoy the feel of that plane, very nimble on the side stick. Too much plane for me right now, I'd kill myself faster than a urologist in a Cirrus.

Afterwards we packed up and flew to San Marcos. Nice fly-in with an abundance of Stearman craft and a B25 rolling around, along with the CAF hanger being open. I got to see the rare P63 KingCobra, even if it is in kitplane mode right now.

As Rob mentioned the Texas Cobra Club was at the airport and doing what they do best -- show off. Very nice addition to the airplanes and no two were alike.

After the return, there were two car clubs meeting at the Airport Diner. A group of MG owners, and (I believe) the Hill Country FCA.

Ash and I headed to downtown and wandered a bit, and now are crashed until dinner.

had dinner at Cabernet Grill (Cotton Gin) and then closed the Officers Club again rolling right into watching the F1 race live. Monarch flew their 206 and 400 out early while the rest of us had breakfast late morning at the diner. Tillman, Ashley, and Dave off to the Nimitz while the Holay's will depart before noon. a perfect mix of people and events, another great time.

we were talking about doing this twice a year.

Thanks to everyone that came, especially Sponsor Monarch Aviation for bringing the newish Cessna 400 and 206 for demo flights. Thanks to Tillman for finding out about the San Marcus Warbird fly-in, that made the weekend too. We will do a 3rd annual at Fredericksburg in March 2011, maybe partner with Hill Country FCA for expanded event and ride switch.

    Here is a quick video.
