I see that there is a 235/35/19 for the front, and a 305/30/19 for the rears. I have used on other cars for track days, and found them pretty sticky and durable. Any experiences here? Has anyone determined what is the largest size that fits in the front and rear of the 430? Thanks
i was just about to order mpsc replacements for the 3rd time on my 07 gt3 when i saw this post. r888 about $500 set cheaper so will give it them a try in same sizes as you. reputation seems good
I raced in the Speed World Challenge series for the last 6 years where we are required to run the R888. The R888s are not that great of a tire especially if you don't get them shaved. They have a very stiff sidewall that does not match the compound of the rubber on the tire. The R888s do offer more grip than a street tire. If the track is wet they will suck. I would go with the MSPC over the Toyos any day. And I would use either the Hoosier R6 or R100 slicks over the MSPC.
Seth, the race-spec MPSC are no longer available on sizes that can be used in the 430, unless you get custom size wheels, in which case the 265/30 and 345/30 R19 are the way to go. I agree that in between race spec MPSC and R888, the MPSC is better. The OEM Porsche MPSC (N-spec) don't have good grip, the 997 GT3 sizes fit the F430, but neither those tires or the Pirelli Corsa have decent grip for track use. R6 are pretty good, A6 are pretty good. I haven't tried the R100, but the Cup teams that have tested them, and new Yokos, Dunlops, etc still prefer the Michelin Blue Cups. By the way, the Michelin Blue Cups are a direct fit if you go down to 18" wheels on the F430 (not possible with cars running CCB). Michelin and Pirelli make slicks in 19" for the stock wheels worth considering.
