Thank-you Klaus for the additional race numbers & dates! Does anyone have any additional period racing photos of 5843 that they could post? I think someone already posted the attached from Le Mans.As well I attach a pic of 5843 at the 1965 Nurburgring. Many thanks! Merci beaucoup! But of course, every answer causes a new question: for the "Coupes de l'Avenir" on 11.09.1966 I also have Gustave Gosselin listed driving a 250 LM to a DNF, but which chassis??? Unfortunately I don't posses the "Ecurie Garage Francorchamps" book.....
According to Ecurie Francorchamps p243, Gosselin drove 5843 (#114) to a DNF, Dubois drove 6023 (#110) to 4th and Dernier drove 0828 (#111) to 2nd. -Jarrett
See Cavallino #53 pp36-39 for a full color feature on this car. 5843 has raced at least 24 times between 1964 and 1967, all documented in either Cavallino #53 and/or the Ecurie Francorchamps book pp239-243. It was also driven in almost every Monterey Historic Race weekend between 1974 and 1992, as well as a few after 1992. -Jarrett
Can anybody shed some light on this one?? I've searched and searched, but obviously not in the right places.
Thankyou Jarrett. It's amazing how easy it is to find something once you have a lead. Looks like it was quite possibly the Road America 500 race in 1961. I have some other slides of some of the other competing cars so that would fit in place.
More old photos at a Houston airport, circa '65 or '67, L. Welcher's Jr. Ferrari 250 TR S/N? and a Lola T70 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not sure yet, but the driver was Leroy Melcher, Jr. According to Cavallino #113, the Melchers got 0748TR in the summer of 1966. -Jarrett
I have opened a new thread on Julio González-Pola, the first Spaniard to drive a Ferrari F1, back in 1948; please visit http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=283007&highlight=Julio+Gonzalez-Pola Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks like Hobby Airport, our "old one" now.......but it's still operates and the 1940s Terminal has been restored.... I can show that pic to the curator and see if she has other info... I'm about two blocks down the street, from those hangers....
