There's one on Hudson Street in Trenton. That's a war zone now, so they opened a second location in Robbinsville - very nice and more customer friendly.

At least one of my articles reviewing the place is on the site.

Okay, I officially tried out John's on Bleeker St, and the other location near Times square. Meh... not bad, but nothing memorable for sure. People that like NY pizza must have grown up with it - so it's a comfort thing now. To me it was just kinda bland.

Pizza Man burned and the building torn down. Best in Milwaukee now is Buca's. They were a close second anyway.

I can't believe Waxy hasn't posted on this one...

Poor Richards Pizza Barn, Porterville, Ca. The Pizza of our youth, and it still kicks it after all these years.

Hideaway Pizza, Oklahoma City. Killer crust, serious brick oven perfection, and any topping combo your little heart desires.

And a little place I swore I'd never forget... but that was 39 years ago... and it was in Vancouver BC... and I've slept a lot of times since then... so if there's a Canuk out there who knows of a kickin' pizza Joint in Vancouver that's been there forever, throw me a bone here why don't ya...;)

Next time you are in Denver take the 70 West for about 45 min. and go to Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs.

Fun drive and a cool location in an old mining town. I get the thick crust and there is Honey on the table for the crust.

Um FYI The Johns of Bleecker i'm referring to has only ONE location. There might be a line. Personally i've tried Lombardi's but nothing is touching this:
    http://www.johnsbrickovenpizza.com/

go with the standard cheese pie, and also get the WHITE pizza. i'm telling you, it's heavenly. one of the great things of all time.

Vincent, how do you know Imo's?

I happen to agree, I love thin crust and Imo's does it like no other. but it is definitely an acquired taste.

    Nurburgringer,

Sorry, I missed your question in post 34. DeLorenzo's Hudson is what I meant. The son, Sam, opened up a bigger, nicer, place (with a bathroom) in Robbinsville, NJ. The pizza is very close to Hudson's.

For the hard core experience, Hudson is still #1 but Robbinsville is a much easier trip in many ways (no police escort required... ;) :D)

    Regards,

    Art S.

The only way to know is to have been there, I been there.

Now I have it shipped here once a year for the Master's! Nothing better than a Mickelson win and a lovely slice of pepperoni and bacon Imo's pizza!

Anybody ever eat stromboli? Making some tonight at home using my favorite NY pizza dough recipe. Looking for some great strombolis to copy ingredient-wise.

Look up panzerotti. It takes the stromboli to a whole new level by deep frying it. I'm not sure if it's feasible for home cooking, but if you have a way I would definately suggest it.
